Evo overheating problem?! Please help!

So long story short my buddies Evo is having some overheating issues. When the car is turned on and sits in place for however long and the car will not overhear.

But as soon as we get moving about 2-5 minutes later the temp shoots wayyy up! So we immediately turn off the car and in about 1 minute the temp drops back down to a little less than halfway. So we turn on the car and get going in, and immediately the temp starts making it's way back to the top.

Each time we checked, no coolant leaking, always full.

We're thinking it could either be a bad head gasket or as simple as a bad thermostat. *Also, heat doesn't work. Air is always cold.

So it's pretty hard to arrange a tow to a shop since we both work majority of the day. So asking for some help that may be a simple fix to this problem.

Thanks. *Car is an Evo 8*

Had the same problem, it was my thermostat. Did a trick by pulling the old thermostat out and drilling a few small holes. Installed it just to verify and took the car for a spin. No more overheating. Bought a new thermostat and its been all good since

The thermostat will be the first thing I Change. Next, maybe the temp sensor. Maybe also air in the system.
