Need opinions on turbo swap

So I currently have a 20g Evo 9 turbo w/ surge ported compressor housing. with some basic bolt ons (stock cams) on 20lbs of boost making 360awhp and 350awtq on 91 pump gas. Lately I keep seeing more hta71 threads and I'm debating on picking up a used one. However the searching I've found hasn't really given me ideas that I will make any more power then my current turbo. Need some opinions on if people think i will make more power on the exact same setup just with the hta71 vs the 20g 9 turbo.

Begin discussion.

you might as well go fp red if you upgrade the stocker IC. you might lose a couple hundred rpm spool time but gains will be well worth it afterwards. But, given you are on stock cams why dont you throw some 272's in there? you very well pick up another 20-30whp. i dont think going to a 71 is worth the money. If you want more out of your car, I would rather spend money on cams along with springs and a good tune.

51lb minute is the 71. That's the old school fp white numbers.. the 71 which is turbine limited, a clipping would be a good experiment on a 93/e85 car with cams

51 is more than the lower cbrd unit the last time we discussed in another thread ..

Awesome thank for the help. In response to bhs the ic is already upgraded I run a full Buschur 4in race ic with Buschur lower and upper ic piping. I'm debating btwn the Buschur cams or the s2

I went s2 and with garret core I consistently saw 425+ virtual dyno dyno jet, with the 71.

For 600 bucks the 71 flows nicely but the stock turbine is gay. It's worth every penny over a stock turbo but the only caveat is people that expand their power goals and the oem bearing and exhaust wheel..

I really wanna just go ape **** and do a t3 6262 setup but I hate piecing together turbo kits. At this point I am bored with my power level and I would do e85 to bump over the 400 mark, however theres only 2 stations and the closest one is nearly the same price as premium and the other is a 20 min drive.

I have an HTA71, it is a great upgrade for the guys who have a 10.5 hotside and an 8 turbo. I will say that you will see the HTA71 spool up WAY faster than a 20G does. The HTA71 hits super hard and puts down massive TQ numbers. Best 600 bucks I ever spent on my car, but I'm upgrading to FP Red now because of different goals with the car. HTA71 would be perfect for Auto-X though
