test pipe

ok ive been thinkin to get a test pipe/ straight pipe, seriously been thinking about it for some time anyhow i just dont really wanna take the risk of getting caught by the pigs so therefore just wanna ask any of u here got testpipe on your evo? any problem with the cops and everything?

i was thinking to get the UR test pipe since they have the GUARANTEE NO CEL...

also, how many approximate whp gain from the test pipe ? thanks y'all

its been said that the test pipe will give u 20whp. i have 1 and im very happy with it, probably one of the cheapest and best mods i got! u should check out ur local muffler shop, some times they can make it for u for 40-60 bucks w/ install. so UR i think its the cheapest ones out there with a brand!

some of the bad things about the test pipe.
1. it smells
2. ur car is going to be much louder
3. if u get pulled over by a cop and they see u have a test pipe, u can get a fat *** ticket from 1,000-3,000 (but its soo worth the risk!!!)

I don't think a cop is going to jack up your car and look and see if you have a cat or not....

You don't have to jack up the car to see the cat, all the cop has to do is look under the car. I can see mine just by peeking under the car. If you think it is worth the risk to get a 1000-3000 dollar ticket, I think the uncatalyzed fumes are getting to your brain.

just get a hi-flow cat. that way you get some of the gains of a test pipe but without the possiblities of fines, etc.

i think my UR test pipe is causing my A/C to blow out some funky smell. Anybody else notice that their A/C is blowing out some funky smell due to the test pipe?

you are in cali, get the random tech high flow cat for $250 here

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ht=random+tech

carb certified I believe, if you must go with a cat delete pipe I would highly suggest the Ultimate Racing pipe, it's what I've run for a good 5000 miles, no cel

find it here, Al also really likes UR's high flow cat, can find it here too

Come on guys Road Race engineering in santa fe springs sells the best thing...FAKE CAT

It looks like a cat from the outside and even has a filled in sound like a cat when you tap it...but guess what its a perfect 3 inch all the way through... getting mine installed this friday at RRE,I already have the UR high flow also and its an awesome piece but the gains from a test pipe are too much to be ignored, also if a popo looks under the car sees the cat,the most he can do is take make you go to a state ref,you can just put your stock back on

I never heard of them putting a piece of tube/wire in the exhaust to test for cat,I would try to say no to that in fear of damaging cat combs :}

cat

i have a buschur 3" ex i originaly had the test pipe on but it was annoyingly loud so i put the high flow cat on and it is much quieter but now my cat is vibrating against the stock heat sheild also very annoying so i cant win

i put on the 3" high flow cat when i only had stage one because of the noise i have many more mods now (cams etc...) so i flow more air. In turn would be even louder than before if i removed it ????

if so how much more whp are we talking about here enough to justify changing it back and possibly much more noise??

Also i have 272 cams would a more open exhuast make the idle worse? i don't really have a stalling problem now could this cause one?

I went with the UR 3" cat. There was no noticable increase in sound level from the stock cat.
And there isn't any noticable smell either.
I had been around cars with just the test pipe, and I just couldn't do it. My eyes were watering.

I believe Al said he found the 3" UR cat and a test pipe to be so similar in HP gains that it
wasn't worth running the testpipe on the street.
