FWIW, the reason I got into such an in-depth conversation with the owner of the shop I went to is because he wasn't going to pass me due to the fact that he couldn't find the vacuum diagram sticker and he thought my OEM IC couplings looked aftermarket. He apologized and said he had never smogged a car like mine before, so I sat with him to help him out (actually a really cool, old dude and was willing to learn instead of simply not testing the car). I showed him our vacuum diagram on the under side of our hood and Googled pictures of our engine bays to show him the couplers. At the end of the day, he thanked me and I'll be taking all my cars to him from now on, though he's super busy and the waits are long.
I have gone to shops that said I wouldn't pass due to OEM parts that "looked scary" but they tell me before running the test. I've never had anyone test the car, then come to me and say it didn't pass, so they could get a fail and payment on the back end, as you are saying. It's possible I've just gotten lucky and have run into honest techs vs the ones you have had to deal with. That is a bummer and I feel for ya, but that's the risk we take when we modify our cars, I guess.

I don't want any surge issues now or down the road. Called fp and talked to them, said it won't effect spoil time and moves the compressor map over to the right, more flow in the upper RPM's.

I run mild cams (Greddy, S1) on a 2.0L so didn't worry about surging, but I also have modest power goals compared to most people LOL

LOL. I've heard the stories (traffic). The race tracks are the ONLY reason I'm still in CA. If i ever quit doing HPDE & TA (yeah, right), the first thing I'd do is leave this god-forsaken state. It sucks.

Bumping this, I don't think I've ever seen anyone put this turbo on a built 2 liter with S2's like Im about to do... When I get my engine done and in.
Also I have a mildly ported head so however that effects spool, torque and top end I guess we'll see. Hopefully with the car being on SD and a 4" intake with a full 3" exhaust and the stock intake and exhaust manifolds it will still have good low end and amazing mid range. That's my goal, with room to jump to a bigger stock frame later if I want to.

you should see better top end than my setup (again, mine was VERY mild). You may lose some bottom end, but believe me: you shouldn't notice.
Since you are on a built block, you can take full advantage of the torque curve (it's awesome, by the way). You will flow air, decently.. so your top end will be nice.
You should have a very responsive and quick setup with a nice peak WHP. Looks pretty much perfect, IMO. I probably would have ended up with the same build as you, if it were for my plans to keep the car on the road course.
