I haven't run mine on a track yet, but I can tell you even for Street use I like my wavetrack far better than the stock unit. If you have the means, definitely go for it.

The OEM helical front diff is a good unit. For track use, you will see a bigger difference by upgrading your rear diff. http://www.teamrip.com/evolution-4-9...uild-services/

diff, they are junk. The rear diff is not a weak point, but a weir 12 plate conversion is the best deal for the money/longevity.

Wave track is the toughest unit out there and a great upgrade

Weir 12 twelve plate is junk. They aren't a good design, and they fail. If you want a 12 plate, send it to TRE for Jon's maxlock setup. And the rear diff it's weak points. The post on the side cover for the carrier bearing gets smashed down, then the bearing is loose and the ring/pinion pattern walks all over the place.
The stock (LSD) front diff breaks from not knowing how to launch the car. For a road course car, an upgrade is not mandatory.

As far as the front diff, I have seen no less than 4 failures, some the whole carrier broke in half other wore out the spider gears thrust washers till they broke. Three of the four vehicles were sub 400hp. They are crap IMHO.

Wave track is a solid unit. The diffs I have seen break are mostly open diffs on the 8's and one 9.

Drag and racing and not launching the car right will explode it. Some who uses the Evo as intended (twisties car) will never have an issue.
Doesn't take much when you side step the clutch off the rev limiter from stop. **** goes kaboom. The Evo is a rally car, not a drag racer...lol
