I had the raceworx springs on a set of bilsteins on my last evo. Anything past 2.7 negative in the front and I began to loose braking ability. With stiffer suspension(man was that thing soft!!) I think the 3+ is easily doable.

Sam settle down; you're all over the map here. With your current alignment if you're unable to engage ABS adding more contact patch isnt only going to make it harder to engage ABS. For starters as mentioned no reason you shouldnt be able to lock up the tires. Try pushing harder!

I know you didnt bed them in properly so that could be part of the problem but honestly after a couple auto-x events they should have sufficient pad transfer such that it shouldnt be an issue.

But regardless youre talking about 2 different issues here. If you're having rev hang then work with Aaron and try different ROM ID's which youre doing to see what your car likes the best.

Also, do me a favor and go find an abandon road and drive say like 50mph, make sure nobody is around you and slam on our brakes. I mean step on the pedal as if you want to push it through the firewall. You will lock up the brake. Then come back and tell me youre able to engage ABS.

I don't know about abandoned road, but I had the car on wheels rolling very slow and locked brakes just from touching them. so it's there, and as you said I could probably get by just pushing harder. i'll test the map first and then move on from there.

Lol you better be able to lock the wheels with them in the air! Now go try it with an actual load on the vehicle aka on the ground and driving. I just wanted you to separate the two issues, one being rev hang and the other is lack of stopping power.

wanted to update this - tuner (ER) updated my map to help eliminate rev hang - I haven't raced on the car yet, but I did do some pulls to make sure the car can race on it. car felt fine, couldn't particularly notice anything re: braking in gear/rev hang, but I was on my all seasons and was able to activate ABS in neutral and in gear on the street, so perhaps the massive grip has something to do with it.

to top it off, the evo now has a little backfire right after letting go of throttle. he said it helps sync shifts better, and I'm assuming the map was richened a little after letting go of WOT to help with the rev hang in some way, idk.

To help with rev hang, He likely adjust the ISCV setting a bit, and lowered timing in the lower load cells of the timing map. The lower timing is what causes the pop and bangs.

so basically if I race this weekend and I don't see any improvement in braking (i.e., it was just due to grippy tires, too much camber, whatever) and it's not due to rev hang, I will just switch back to the previous map that did not give me the pops and bangs - call me an old man, but I want that quietness of a smooth exhaust

You can ask him to add the timing back in. But it should only do it from WOT, and the upper rpm's. My car has the same thing, and it doesn't do it in normal driving.

yup - this car gets autocrossed a LOT though, so I don't want it constantly popping about through the course. if rev hang doesn't effect braking/wasn't in my case, I'll switch the map back - either way, I should be able to tell pretty immediately here if that's the case. bringing my laptop and i'll switch to the old map and see if braking worsens

I'm assuming that that is what he used to eliminate any rev-hang btw, is that correct?

yeah, that and possibly fueling and/or ISCV settings.
