*New Turbo Time* Fp Red BB vs Blouch 2.0xtr
Well considering both of these turbos..
Looking to stay MHI based.
From what I am reading the blouch seems to spool better, with the red having better top end.
I guess the biggest plus for me is that the blouch will come with a brand new turbine housing apposed to sourcing one for the red build.
price is comparable....
This will primarily be a pump gas turbo. With hopes of sourcing e85 one way or another down the road.
I just want to buy a turbo with the best compromise of power and spool. I would also like some longevity out of it. IE durability. I also read some threads from a while back early in the ceramic BB era. Comparing it to the blouch bb chra
Any updated expertise on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've got a CBRD 3B turbo which is essentially the 2.0xtr and I've got to say that I'm very pleased with it. Very good transient response and pulls hard all the way to redline. I'm not pushing mine very hard (400whp, 400wtq) but I do plan to get a hot tune made to push around 500whp. Usually spooled around or a bit before 4k. Also very nice that it uses all factory lines and doesn't need an aftermarket restrictor.
Can't really comment on the red but I have heavily considered getting one when my 3B dies.

Both will make a great turbo. The red can be pushed harder for a kill tune on E85, but that doesn't sound like what you're after. Can't go wrong with either IMO.
I do love my red.

Thanks, I know you are a big fan of the red
I am also wondering if the new billet chra that fp is using has taken car of the "oil leaking" issues
I read in some of my research that the blouch turbos Never had a oil issue.

Did you end up upgrading cams? Is the 400/400 on stock cams/ pump93?
Self tuned ?
Stock cams still. 400/400 is on E85 (being conservative for the track), on 93 it makes 330/320 though it could definitely do more.
Tune was from the previous owner done by a shop down in AZ. The tune itself is pretty solid, when it comes time for me to bump it up I'll probably just smooth out the fuel trims, make sure AFR is still safe and I'm not overtaxing my 255 pump, and then mess with timing a tad and crank up the boost. That 400/400 is at like 25-26psi, timing isn't very high.
Trending Topics
Some seem to leak, some don't. Proper crank case ventilation generally takes care of it. Which, IMO, you should do regardless of what turbo you buy, the stock system isn't sufficient for 400whp.
