I'm honestly not sure, didn't get a ton of info from the PO.

You can install springs and retainers including the cams, while the head is on, without the need to remove it. At this power level, porting the head is not a must. You can try switching cams and springs in order to be able to rev higher and see if you are happy with the results. Eventually, even if you are not happy, you will have a built head and be ready to switch to a smaller turbo if you decide. From what i see, your turbo is a thrust bearing turbo. Also, taking into account your cams, it is a mismatch, as the boost does not come as soon as you like and the cams choke your flow at higher rpms. Switching to better cams, and buying a ball bearing turbo with a divided a/r will help you a ton

Anybody have some suggestions for a reasonably priced alternative that will spool sooner but still make upwards of 700+ whp? Or am I better off saving up and getting a built head?
Is the motor built ? What are you currently revving it to?

Yea I know the HKS cams aren't the best for this setup, I figure either GSC S2 or S3 would be much better, along with springs and retainers. I would love to have a BB turbo but the dramatic increase in price doesn't justify the gains IMO.

It is a 2.0 built bottom end. The rev limiter is set at a conservative 7200.

What? It should be 8500 minimum.

That thing needs S3's and a magnus V5 intake manifold to take advantage of that 66mm compressor.

8,500 on factory valvetrain??? My understanding is that's way too high.

It'll do 7600-8000. Depends how tired the springs are.

You need to put cams and springs in it though, you're choking that turbo.

I agree 100%. It's first on the list. I'm also on the stock 6 speed though so I'm living on borrowed time there too.

It'll hold 450ftlbs. Just don't launch it. You'll have way more fun with the car with cams/valvesprings and a manifold revving it out to 8500-9000 than you are now.

Yes definitely not launching it. It's right around 400ft lbs as it sits. I have a spare Shep stage 1 5 speed as well, but having trouble finding anyone who still provides a 5 speed swap kit.

It's not really a "kit". Do some searching. There's plenty of thread son here detailing exactly what parts you need.

I've done hours of searching. Jack's and Shep sell a kit but they're rarely in stock. Also Whalen sells their own proprietary harness which looks like it makes the install process much easier.
