I understand that it is supposedly a random misfire situation, but I just want to run something by you all, especially webguy330i. I just sold my BMW 3 series to get into this evo and the evo is probably the jerkiest car under light throttle high rpm situations. My car bucks and whips wildly. Do all cars drive like this? I have only driven my own evo. Is this simply the nature of high stress, turbo'd cars? I could hold my 3er on perfect angle when drifting at light throttle, adjusting the rear end angle with my right foot. If I try anything but full throttle in my Evo, the thing just bucks and jerks crazy like!?! Is this just the nature of the car? Can tuning solve some of these problems? Or do I just have a lemon x 10?
I think most turbo cars exhibit some level of part throttle jerkiness. Some models more than others.

OK all I have an update.

The tech at the dealership says that my diverter valve is causing a variance in the intake manifold pressure and this is causing the car to run a richer condition sometimes, which is causing this p0300 error.

What kind of a load of **** am I getting here? Are we talking about a full on corn-riddled turd in my ear, or a sloppy splash of diarreah?

Can someone here please explain, how my Forge D/V which is installed properly and tightened 100%, could be causing a pressure variance at idle or otherwise at a steady throttle condition (because obviously moving the throttle is going to vary the intake manifold pressure)? And can you also explain to me how this could be causing a misfire during steady acceleration or cruising?

I am so pissed right now! They want to stick me with a $220 diag bill AGAIN and I am NOT going to go down without a massive fight.

My plan is to go down Wednesday with the stock d/v and install it, so they can see there is no problem at all with the Forge unit. If anything the Forge unit should be holding more steadily than the stock plastic nub of crap.

Still if anyone has any input on the above I'd surely appreciate it.

OMFG.. I have had this problem since the car was pretty much stock. I also have a bov, but I know this is not causing the problem.

If you have a boost gauge, you can show them the pressure is reading exactly as it should, and that there is no leak or variance in pressure either.

On my car, at Idle it reads a certain amount of negative vacum, and it stays exactly still and steady until i give it throttle... which then reads 0 vacum.

What a bunch of crap.

Howie what's up man. webguyp0300 reporting in.

I don't have all the details yet from the tech (part of my problem and fuel for my frustration right now) but I am going down tomorrow with my friend Mike (who is a family friend of this tech guy) so we can attempt to sort things out. I know it's not the d/v either, which is the other part of my incessant frustration.

Christ I am so pissed off I could spit fire I swear...

It's just ludicrous that somehow this guy came up with the idea that the INTAKE MANIFOLD pressure (behind the throttle body?!?!) could be affected by the d/v, which is obviously true if you are modulating the throttle but it is NOT true if somehow you are holding it perfectly steady.

It just blows my mind that I am having to deal with this. I can't call MMNA because they are closed, there is no California arbitration dispute process/company, the national arbitration company is closed at 5pm PST and I am driving a Hyundai.

Could things get any worse in the auto world of Chris?

seems like youre gettin a raw deal. the mods wouldnt cause this misfire as it has been described. it happened on my car which was completely stock (unless the drop in k&n filter caused it - but thats highly unlikely). Keep us posted.

Hope your pain subsides.

They won't, but it's good to know the NHTSA actually publishes them all. Somewhere, by someone, my voice was heard.

I have been getting the P0300s on a semi regular basis. I decided, just for the hell of it to put a tank of 100 octane in my Evo and to see what happens.

The result: no p0300 since filling with 100 octane. I just put in a second full tank of 100 octane, so I am crossing my fingers hoping the dreaded P0300 does not return.

Sorry, but it has worked for me so far. Nearly done with the second tank of 100 octane and not a hint of the dreaded P0300. At only 4.40$ a gallon, my wallet will only allow this to continue for so long..
