Random Misfire 0300: Dealership reflash available...
Funny that they are now going to the injector replacement TSB if/when the reflash fails to work.
My update: I haven't had a p0300 in over 500 miles but I am sure it will return. When it does I'll take it back to the dealership so they can attempt to fix it again. When that doesn't work, I will be filing for a buyback/replacement.
I've had it in the shop, oh, 6 times for this problem since I first got it.

The Mitsubishi flash was developed with stock unmodified cars in mind. It was developed to fix an error found in the stock ecu's code. It is not meant to increase performance.
SC~
A part of me wonders if Mitsu just did something to mask the problem. Not solve it. It would be very easy for them to program the ECU to be even less sensitive to the problem just to save them some money. Who knows....
I just hope this gets fixed the right way and soon.

Cr0mster, it appears that they either dumbed the ecu knock sensitivity down a bit, or they created an adaptive ecu which will (over time) see less misfires due to this condition. I suspect the latter since it was an entirely different ecu program (so say the tuners trying to work with this new version) and since it would be in mitsu's best interest to do so.
We shall see with time, but for now I am still not having any issues after 600 miles of driving since my last p0300 harassment.

i continue to get o300 code. i just drove home and no code.... 180miles.... but last week when i was going to work it came on after about 120miles.... then went off after 4th key stroke...... im going to be taking it in if it comes on again within next couple of days so ill see i guess
Well looks like I've talked about it behaving too much. Bout 30 minutes ago it threw another p0300, same conditions (5th gear highway cruising).
I am making an appointment to have the dealership diagnose it one last time (now that I have corrected my exhaust issue) and if nothing comes of it I'll be persuing a buyback/replacement vehicle.

my car is acting up ever since i installed my new clutch..i went for a test drive then my car started to stumble and my idle just went worse..my car could not pass 3000rpm..my car would sound like a WRX with an aftermarket exhaust!!! So then i went to my mechanic then it showed that i have a P0301 Misfire code 1st cylinder!..we changed the spark plugs and it is the same..my car would not even run anymore..its like dying on me.. my mechanic said that it could be my spark plugs, fuel injectors, or my wire harness...so i am taking it to mitsubishi tomorrow and see what they have to say about this..
will the re-flash fix this problem? i have 24700 miles..

I bought an 2004 RS 5 weeks ago and have had the code pop up 4 times, the last time it got the Mitsu reflash, and it just came back on today. It is going back in tomorrow...i too am thinking about filing a buy back under lemon law guidelines...
32E, stick it to them. I can't believe it's happening to the 04's also!
Gonzo, yes but it has happened to me in all gears whenever maintaining light throttle regardless of the RPM. Imagine you're trying to merge into traffic in 2nd gear at say, oh, 5000rpm, and you have to coast for a second before you can punch it, then WHAM! Engine falls flat on its face.

I keep getting the P0302 (misfire cylinder #1). Is the
flash for the P0300 only or is it for any false misfire?
I wish one of the aftermarket ECU reflash guys would just figure out a way to elimnate ALL of the emission related codes. I only want my check engine light to come on if there is a component failure.

EVOeight, knock is not something you want to ignore. It's classified as emissions related but it's really like a heart valve flutter, if you want to think of it that way.
P0302 should be cyl #2 btw, right?
If you are getting a cylinder specific misfire, I'd say it's more likely that you are being affected by the 'sticky injectors' misfire issue. The other misfire issue ('transmission/drivetrain harmonic resonance') is totally different and generally throws a non-cyl specific p0300.

You are correct, I don't want to ignore the knock sensor. I guess the P0302 is for cylinder #2 not #1 as I stated. I am unaware of the "sticky injector" issue. Can you give me any more information about this? What have others done to correct this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Search around here and at norcalevo.net -- there are lots of threads. Just look for "misfire" or "p0300". You can also search for "warranty work denied", "reflash works for ****" or "mitsu sucks a big donkey deek". Your choice.
