Phrostie glad to hear your success story.

My latest update:

Just got back from the dealership. The tech found multiple p0300 instances of course, so they decided to re-reflash the ECU (2nd time now). They saved the data off the ECU for the error codes, and are going to call techline monday to analyze it. Not sure what will come of that...

Regardless, I had at least 20 misfires (I stopped counting after that) on my way home. Keep in mind it's about a 40 min drive for me straight down 101.

Sooooooooo that all having been said, I'm calling my lawyer Monday to get everything underway for the buyback. I'm not about to have them start replacing the engine/etc. I will be out of a car for weeks, unacceptable.

Dealer performed PCM reprograming on Friday 09-24-04, bill code 13850113. 300 miles later light is back on. Guess I will have to call in the morning and see what they say.

Webguy-

I am having a new transmission put in my 2000 740il uder certified warranty and the dealership gave me a 2004 330ci coupe for a loaner...real nice, not nearly as fast or as manic as the evo, but real smooth and a delight to drive...I called mitsu last week and started the arbitration process, as per mandatory of mitsu, and they are sending out a district rep to look at the car tomorrow at the dealership....I'll let you all know what comes of it....

32e, that would be quality BMW warranty service eh? Glad you are enjoying the 330... I agree, they are super smooth (love german torque) compared to the evo. Go drive a 6spd and you'll like it even more.

Good luck w/ arbitration, don't let the DR tell you things you know aren't true. Hopefully you'll get a 'normal' DR who isn't on a power trip and doesn't have a stick up his ***.

I'm gonna have more info (re: my above post) after lunch today.

So the 740 is done and I have to give back the 330ci coupe...sad to see it go. On the mitsu front, I started the buy back process, and have much to report. However, I feel it might be a new thread, as I would like to know more about others' processes, but I doubt this is the place...Can someone create a thread RE: Buy-Back/Lemon Law cars/Process???

32e, it would be a good idea indeed. I just don't know if it's _wise_ because it seems like we shouldn't really be letting too much information out about our cases until things are finalized you know?

If you want to start one I'd say do it up in the Gen Discussion forum =)

I just got a call from my local dealer and, although the buyback process is a completely separate issue, techline advised them to put a new transmission in the car. So they are ordering one of those, and i guess it gets a new tranny.

I have had this same problem and have been watching this thread since it started. well I just got my car back from the service shop and they replaced the transmission on it wednesday. between the shop and my self I have over 200 miles on the car and no CEL or miss fire of any time. I was also suffering from vibratoin while driving in 5th gear, that is gone also.

If I do get the CEL again I will let everyone know.

Took car back to dealer friday morning, I was told that corp rep wanted to see my car. They ran compression test and a leakdown test. They also looked at all the freeze frame data. no problems were found. rep did mention the transmission theory. I was told to give the corp rep a call when it happends again to give more detailed throttle position, RPM, temp what type of road ect information. Misu is trying to gather more data as to when and where this happends. Mitsu also opened a case file.

yeah thats what fixed it, I had been having the vibration while in 5th gear about the same time the CEL came on for the first time. it wasnt bad at first but it had gotten worse over time as did the number of misfires. But since they have replaced the tranny it drives like a different car. I can provide my case number if any one wants to give it to their local tech to reference.

Yes, the reason for this is because the tranny is at fault. There's already been plenty of discussion on that though.
