Random Misfire 0300: Dealership reflash available...
Well, an update on my car...
Mitsu' decided to replace my transmission under warranty for fear of another lemon claim (I have 7 documented trips to the dealer for P0300). I ordered a new clutch and flywheel while I was at it, because I was getting massive chatter and a prior trip to the dealer suggested a new clutch soon.
So, money saved on a clutch install + new tranny = me being somewhat satisfied.
I expect NO further P0300 occurrences from now on, but I'll be sure to report back if I have any.
I get my car back today.

I got the Mitsubishi reflash this week! Since I had the WORKS P2 flash before, it was wiped out. I packaged up the ECU and mailed it off. Just got it back in today w/o any problems. I'll post back after some mileage to report.

Well, I didn't ask the dealership to reflash me when in. I mentioned the light was on, but was waiting for a fix. The service guy said "yeah, me too". They didn't even ask me or tell me they performed the flash.

figures. At least they seem cool w/ the mods, good luck.
I was getting the p0300 before any mods. At first i kept taking my car in and kept getting free spark plugs. Never got the reflash and have since add mods, and i haven't seen the misfire in two months. Maybe the CEL just burned up, oh well Mitsu service blows donkey ***** anyways.
Wow, yesterday was ridiculous.
I started getting misfires around 3pm and it just never quit. Pretty much every gear, every circumstance (of acceleration or cruising) and every 5-10 seconds, this thing was misfiring. It was all I could do to get home and just park the *****. It must have misfired at least 200 times during my around-town drive yesterday. Highway, city streets, parking lots, ****ing ridiculous!!!!
God dammit!

I have heard about this problem possible being related to the spark plug wires. I personally didn't get the CEL until I installed an engine management system. Anyhow, another guy that has the same engine management bought the Magnacore 8.5 mm wires and hasn't gotten a CEL since. That was 2 months ago.
I just put a set on as well so I'll have to wait and see. Now I never got the CEL as bad as alot of you guys but, I'll report back with any results good or bad. I doubt that the fix would be that easy but, you never no.

Mods don't seem to affect this issue in any way. I had the issue with no mods at all. I had the transmission completely rebuilt and the CEL light went away for good. I drove another 18k miles before my accident without seeing it once. Ask your mitsu service departments about cases of "harmonic resonance" in the transmissions. I asked and they rebilt it for me. maybe it will work for you guys. good luck. I'll let you know if the Evo IX's get the same problem when they come out.
One other guy at Bob Baker Mitsubishi in Carlsbad, CA had his tranny rebuilt and it got rid of his CEL problem too. This was months ago now. He is still running strong as well. (plus he didn't have an accident and lose his car) Again: No mods are necessary to incur the wrath of the P0300 and it is completely the fault of Mitsubishi Motors. Don't let ANY dealer try to tell you that it is your fault or the fault of something you did. Mitsubishi Motors knows how to fix the issue and they are skimping on the repair costs. If no one else will give you the time of day, drive out to Bob Baker Mitsu in Carlsbad, CA and have them do it. Josh is the Technician who worked on my car and Max is the service manager. Good luck again

has released a new P0300 fix. Someone from the Norcalevo board is already running it. It seems to be doing the trick.
