I think a state would have to pass the law first, then any vehicle after they pass the law has to pass the law. Everything before that is grandfathered in. Just like if you bought a 1977 truck in california I am pretty sure you dont need to worry about emissions. (I could be wrong) I live in WI and have 15% tint with a loud *** exhaust. Ive never been screwed with yet nor am I worried about it. I would just file an appeal and be done with it. Also, call yourself a lawyer that gets paid only if you win and sue the PD and the city. They will settle out of court.

I figured it out, ylen13 is Ralph Nader. He is fighting to make all cars on the road equal to his Toyota Prius. Maybe not communist, but this guy must be a facist or ****, trying to make all others believe his babbling nonsense about laws and spoilers and such. Hopefully he will go out the way of Hitler.
ROFL Best post of the thread, that and the Subaru State Patrol (ARGH I was going to post it!). Anyway, shows you how ignorant and useless the judicial system is in our country. As for our man in trouble, I don't even have to wish you luck becuase there is no way you can lose if you show them enough evidnece. Print out a picture of the STi patrol car, the road runner, etc...then have a few mitsubishi borchures on hand with you, and if necessary, bring a signed statement from your dealership stating that the wing is factory parts and was certified DOT legal. After that, insist they take all the paper wasted to proclaim your innocence and shove it up their A$$ES, telling them that it is a new state law that it is required to ingest paper products becuase they are running out of landfill areas and that it's a good source of fiber. The End. I'm sure everybody but Ralph Nader is standing begind you every minute of this obsurdly rediculous ordeal.

The bottom line is that sells the Evo in ALL 50 STATES, so the Evo is LEGAL in ALL 50 STATES! Even if the wing totally obstructed the rear window, which it does not, the Evo has both driver and passenger sideview mirrors which easily meet the requirements of Wisconsin law. The judge is 100% wrong, and you should definitely appeal his decision. I guarantee you it will be overturned. I would also demand to have my legal fees reimbursed for defending against this wrongful (and possibly malicious) prosecution.

, like every other automobile manufacturer, spends millions of $$$ to ensure their vehicles are 100% legal in the USA and in every state they are sold in...there is just NFW you could buy a new Evo in Wisconsin if the stock wing violated state law.

you still could, just would have all the evo's shipped to that state be sold without a wing ...

just like in cali, cars being shipped there have more stringent precautions in their cars just to pass smog and other regulatory rules that cali has ....

but considering that mitsu never did anything to change the car to sell in WI, then the car is legal as is ....

im sure his lawyer already knows that considering he got DOT certification, and probably more ....

I'm not 100% sure but I believe there is some level of state/city sovereignty when it comes to state/city. Basically, if the judge feels that his reward vision was inhibited then he can enforce the ticket even if it is "legal" to sell. Personally, I noticed when I bought my evo that it the wing rests at a height that tends to block the headlights of cars in my rearview mirror. I am aware of this defect in my driving however it does not appear to affect my driving. If I were issued the ticket as was the OP, I would also be upset and fight it but I would respect the judges ruling.

You know people everytime someone posts I have to reprint the entire thing out again. And yes we are down to about 36 hours till doomhour. I feel that I have a very good appeal lined up along with a few people I am bringing along. Wish me luck everyone!

EDIT: Mods can you please lock this thread after Friday? I will be starting a new one, just so everyone doesn't have to go through hopefully not more than 19-20 pages.
