Do a search. He already posted a scan of his ticket.

To the guy who just lost: Call mitsu corporate and find a district rep or something. Tell them your situation, and ask for some help. If they laugh at you tell them you will be suing them for selling illegal cars.

The whole situation sucks and I really hope things go better for you

You have me mistaken for the Whale-tail ticket. My ticket is for imparment of rearward vision.

This is the most serious thing I have ever seen with cars. A judge just made it illegal to have a wing on a car. I hope that company reps are looking at this. Because it is not just our car.
It is the RSX A-Spec, WRX, WRX Sti, Neon SRT-4, The upcoming Mazda Speed 6, basically anything with a wing. They could even go after Rally Arts, and OZ Rallys. This is very serious. If this is not challanged, these people can effect our cars forever. That cop is going to write tickets for every Evo, or sports car that comes through his county. The judge just gave him a weapons free order to do it.
Please post the address of your government reps and other contacts. I think that you and other Evo drivers need to write them. This is very serious. If not taken care of, this will change the automotive landscape of the US. It took 10 years to get Evos and WRX's in the US because of closed minded rightous people. What is to stop Mits from removing wings from Evos because the US can not handle it?

You guys do realize how unbelievable this would be right? If this guy is telling the truth, it would mean the judge just ruled that Mitsubishi of America is guilty of making an illegal production vehicle.

To the guy who got the ticket: get a good lawyer. i do not see you having to pay this ticket in the end. Either it gets overturned or Mitsu has to pay for an illegal wing.

Did you go in front of a judge? What evidence did you present if so? You first step is to contact the Department of Transportation and inquire as to if the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is certified as legal to be sold in the United States. The will tell you that the car was either certified or not. If they say that it was certified to be sold in the U.S. you need to request paperwork faxed to you that says so. A local or state court CANNOT overrule federal regulations, this is called The Supremacy Clause. Simply said,a state law that conflicts with a federal law is rendered invalid. If a car is certified sellable in the U.S. by a federal agency a lower agency may not come along behind it and claim it illegal. You need to look up your local statutes concerning requirements on rearward vision. Your local DPS should be able to give you this information, maybe on their website. Most states require a road going vehicle to have at a minimum of a left hand rear veiw mirror. If it were illegal to have an obstruction of a center mounted rear veiw mirror, then all panel trucks, delivery trucks, RV's, semi's, ect would be recieving a ticket as well sence they have NO rearward vision. Once you have your local statute you need to go and talk to a DA or a judge in private to get the ticket dismissed. Did you prove that the car has side mounted rear veiw mirrors?

I do not understand why people (judges, police) want to fight things that they do not understand or do not like.

If you ask me, it was a giant case of profiling and they wanted to make a point out of you, which is illegal in itself.

sue the arresting officer and judge for profiling. did the piggy call you a ricer at any time? if he did that is profiling and that is VERY ILLEGAL get some money out of your misfortune. or if they say "its a wing and you dont need it" they dont know what "you" need.

file an appeal, and demand a jury trial. Then use the mitstubishi dealer as witnesses. In the mean time, go to the newspapers....

ok, everyone is saying to sue the judge, police, mitsubishi, and everyone else.

Now, who's rich enough here and believe that this is such a BS that they're be willing to get their lawyer on this case?

I know one person who could, but I don't know if he wants to.

I'm thinking that there is something more to this than what the guy is saying however when you get a ticketed for getting a dealer option wing then you must protest to the manufacturer or someone who sold you that wing.

Samething as if a toy falls apart and a kid swallows it and dies, you'll be suing the hell out of the toy company. Because death was cause of the product manufactured by the toy company.

I would start a petition with pictures to show that judge and appeal it. Talk to people with SEMA and I'm sure they'll be glad to buy you a lawyer.

While it may be expensive, I'd definitely fight it if you can. That is just "Way, BAD, Wrong"!

I hate **** judges and cops.

Ah, my bad. Can you post a scan of your ticket and your court docs from today? Names and important information blacked out of course.
