Would you trade your Evo for a Z06?

Back on the z06, what's the reliability been like? I know my old man's possibly in the market for one so...

Honestly the vette drives like crap...feels huge (big front end) doesn't communicate with the driver and all it does well is pick up chicks.... It isn't fast really I mean its quick but a evo w/5 k in mods will whoop one hands down and still have four doors , awd (super important in at the limit driving) and be a sleeper that you could driver everyday even in ohio weather and have no problems besides switching tires around. Plus you won't see some old geezer pull up next to you at the light with the same car as you and give you a thumbs up...lol
Ferrari?$200 an hour labor, minimum
Parts??? Radiator for a Magnum PI era Ferrari was $2800 and it wasn't even a Ferrari part!
The answer you will get at the dealership is "Well, it IS a Ferrari" and then look at you like your stupid. There are really only two types of Ferrari owners. Guys that saved for years, bought one and the shop manuals, or the don't know any better type so $100-$500 every oil change doesn't bother him guy. The in between guys are not Ferrari owners for long.
I had a Volvo that was trying to kick my *** like that too. I really like Volvo but stupid crap goes wrong and $350 for a tail light is insanity. "well, its a special tail light"
Special my ***. I felt like a short bus rider every time I went to the dealership. $1000 radiator. Twice. In three years.
If you really want an adventure, buy a BMW 850CSI. V12 tune up. $1200. Power seat controls died. $800
I think the best part about the Evo is being able to work on it yourself.

I was in a similar situation. At 19 I considered the possibility of looking into the z06 as a pure image type car, to display the success I have yet to attain.
For the record I work for the EVO and I treat it well, and with cars being my main focus and hobby the possibility of getting into a Corvette marginally fits into my budget. After some consideration I chose to stay with the EVO, my second car and first true performance car which has been nothing but good to me for the 22k miles I've put on it in a little over a year of ownership. The EVO is a special car in its own right which most informed individuals would agree. Originally I was looking into more of the muscle/pony type car (not to insert the z06 in that class) but the EVO just grew on me. Had always heard of it and its history and development intrigued me. Personally I'm proud to be an EVO owner, its an amazing car to own and has a great community behind it.
My interest in the Vette piqued as the C5s were on their way out and heavy discounts were avaialbe to be had. Also I was over a year of ownership so I had begun to grow accustomed to the car, makign a shiney new Vette all the more attractive. In the end I decided to stay where I am, in a car that I feel perfectly matches what i want in a car. I came to the realization that I wasnt absolutely in love with the Vette, that it was just a mild infatuation that was easily cured by a quick drive in the car I have sitting in the garage. Good luck in your decision.
PS to Ryan Bell: Def good to see an open minded enthusiast such as yourself

Its entirely up to you. I have an 02 zo6 and wondering if i should sell mine for a evo. I can get one for 18 with under 30k miles at the auctions. I just do not want to buy it and hate it. I had an S4 with 25k invested mostly exterior but was capable of running high 12's. I liked it but all my friends supras and v8's killed me on the highway. Now owning one i am not sure if i would be hapy with the evo. I eat evo's and everything else like its by job. Got headers, x-pipe, window tint, non-pop ups, and tinted windows. I think i might hold out for something better. Plus my i might just SC it with a stroker and be pretty much invisible except for my friend single turbo supra that will be a good race. I would say do it. When i am just finishing second and hitting third gear and still have no traction u realize that an evo will never touch me. Even a upgraded turbo will not touch me because he will have sepnd 6 on his engine and i will have spend 2k on mine and completely kill him 1/4 and highway. X2 cam from cartek will put me at 432 rwhp. Garenteeing me low 11's as long as a drive well. It is up to you but once you get it and beat everyone else who has $5k plus under their hood and your stock, you will realize that puting 6k under ur hood (SC) very few will touch you. This is why i cannot sell mine for an evo, they are sweet. Its ur choice but if you do it you will never regret it. Sucks for winter but you know in PA, the amount of days their is snow on the ground you canot drive your car you can count on two fingers,

if you ask here you will get a lot of biased comments. Same thing if u post it on vette forum. I would say depend on what you like better. Personally I don't think the corvette fits me. AkA why I got my 4dr evo. I would take elise/nsx over my evo though

I appreciate all the comments guys. As far as Winters go, I spend all of my time in either Ga or Al, so I am not worried about snow or salt (sucks for those who do
). Anyway, at this time I have decided to just hang on to my car until the Spring at least. Good deals aways come and go and I still really do love my Evo
Thanks for all the great advice and tips from both the Z06 and Evo owners.

Good grief.
Someone mentioned the ZR1 in an earlier in this post. That was one hell of a car. I think it required 11 qts of oil. The LT5 motor is insane. My dream car was a black rose metallic ZR1 for a long long time.

There is no problems with the powetrain in the Z or any adverse tire wear. It's a solid car and a great performer. But I still would not get one over an Evo . I would'nt give up on the Evo just yet . Remember the Z's reflexes are not as fast as the Evo's . Do some more mods to your Evo maybe some suspension and then see if you still like it. Hey the Evo is not for everyone , but if you in heart feel that you'll be happier and better off in an a ZO-6 then I firmly believe you should get one. Oh by the way do drive the ZO-6 hard, in corners it's very easy to setup a line in that car. It's a great car but the Evo is a better handler. Now I will not respond if anyone starts talking skidpad #'s which only tell part of the story of car's handling ability . How else you explain a Viper that has a 335 (rear) tire , pulls over a 1G, is slower around a corner than an E-36 M3 with a 245 tire in the rear? So it's not about skidpad #'s . It's about corner speed. An Evo is carrying alot more corner speed at .92-.95g than a ZO-6 which is pulling .98-1.06G because of it's supension geometry. Got it? Good.
