wow thanks guys for the input! anyways, the first couple of posts were "buy it now", then the posts after it were "wait til next year". hehe, but it is very true that i might not be able to get one next year anymore, since only 1000 were made. i couldnt really believe that it is just a very small number that was produced.

as for the evo 9, i dont really like how it looks like, i definitely rather get an MR, for looks too.

if this would be the case that a limited number were produced, i wouldnt doubt that the price would drop next year when i come back from the country.

as for the 05 STI that evors stated, i also keep the STI in mind too on cars to buy next. but i think ill have more attention having a limited edition MR than an STI for almost the same price.

i have one thing though. next year, ill be having a little more budget on getting a car than right now. it will be possible that i can afford a car within the 50k - 60k range. i dont know how to describe it, but evos are really different, like they are very rare, and the attention given to it when u see one on the road is very high, compared to when you see a g35 or a s2000 on the road, they are really common. im looking at a car that is rare, like the evo. the lotus elise would be a great example of a car that is rare, but i just dont like the safety standards on it, bcoz it is too light. BMW M3 may be a good choice, but are too common already, and much attention will still be given to an evo MR.

anywyas, what do u guys think about alternatives on the evo MR, not passing by the 50k range. thanks!

STi will be a lot cheaper than the MR by about $4000 to $5000 after taxes. Seriously.
You can get a brand new STi for about $31k or less.

The Evo9 will look almost like the MR but better and will have everything the MR has. That's the route that Mitsu has always taken. Every new Evo version is better than the one before.

There is no alternative to the MR. If you don't feal it in your bones that you want one, get a used '03 VIII. If you're just looking for flash or "attention" you may want to look elsewhere also. I mean seriously, why buy a car like the Lancer if all you want is attention and rarity?

Buy a muscle car, they're loud.

Personally, if was buy an MR now or later, I'd buy it now, heck, I am buying it now rather than later. If you want a bunch of attention and seem to think you can afford a bunch more, buy a G35, slap a Veilside kit on there, Vert. doors, and a nice paint job and have a good time.

Personally, I'm in the same boat you are. I could afford a car much more expensive than the Lancer. But anything short of a Modena 360 or Porsche GT2 just won't do, and I won't be there for a couple of years.

Don't buy the Lancer for attention, buy it for the same reason I'm buying it, because it makes a M3 feal like a schoolbus.
