I spoke to Eileen at Mitsubishi North America Customer Care today. She assigned me a case number and is going to have the dealer inspect the calipers for signs of "abuse" ie smacked with a hammer or something. If the dealer cannot find physical damage to the calipers then they (Mitsu) are going to replace the calipers.
I also spoke to Swope Mitsu in Kentucky and the service mgr (Tony) told me he would look at the calipers and if they were not damaged and the clearcoat was peeling he would try to push the repair through. I will wait for Mitsu's response before I go to Radcliff, KY because that is a long drive for me!

Glad to see that your getting it taken care of or at least in the right direction. I'm still waiting for a response from the other Swope dealer and I'll go from there.
Well, I guess Im screwed. The dealer found "marks" indicating that whoever worked on the calipers last (brakepad change) must have chipped the clearcoat. Since I did my last brakejob, I have no proof or anything showing that I didn't chip the clearcoat. From this point I give up. It's really not worth the anxiety and the headache trying to make a large company back their product. I will end this discussion with this: I will never own another Mitsubishi product...used or new. If anyone asks me about my Mitsubishi, I will tell them about their unwillingness to cooperate. "Best Backed Cars"?? Not even close!!
Do we know for SURE that the calipers are aluminum? If so, I'll just take my pnumatic "dremel" to them and polish them out. I originally didn't want the bling factor, but it's better than pink.
Man, that really Suck Evil. I really wish thing wouldn't have to turn out like this. J/w, is it possible to powder coat the calipers. If so you would never have to worry about scratch or fadding and what not. I guess if there is anyway to fully disassemble the caliper down to just bare metal you could have them powder coated. there are quite a few powder coating places in middle TN. just figured I would throw out that option. if it is possible.

I know this is an old post, but Hays just recently replaced all four of my calipers under warranty. They originally were not, but I discussed it with the DSPM and he pushed it through. By the way, My car was there for 2 months, the white evo right out the garage doors. I picked it up the other day, and there was a HUGE dent in the trunk lid. WOW, they are not gonna take responsibility for it, even though I know 100% they did it. Whatever, that dealership is all full of ****. The service manager, Terry, and the Sales Manager, Jamie Lyons, they are all full of themselves. I will be picketing them very soon, if anyone feels the same way, feel free to PM me and join in. IF i can stop just a few people from buying a car from them, i will feel justified.
