Evo Do's and Don't's

I know like on a type r integra u can do aftermarket parts and lose power... is there any parts out there that may make the evo to lose power ? How about the parts that give u decent power gains not goin as far as upgraded turbo and so forth ? Any input will be appreciated

What is wrong with the k&n typhoon intake I have it, and have no problems with it. It sounds great and has a substantial power gain.

Search around, it's the worst intake available for the evo. Sell it and buy either the HKS RS or the Helix RNA.

Back to topic, intake is where you will lose power without a proper tune. Most other mods will gain you power without a tune, but will always increase the power with a correct tune.

as for losing power i think it more of not runing good. ex aftermarket BOV, you dont really need it if your runing boost less then 21psi but some ppl get it becuase it sounds cool, again most BOV will give you issues with stalling and hesitation but some work great. just make sure before u spend the money you actually get gains. you can gain decent power with an intake(4-5whp tuned), exhuast(25whp tuned), and boost controller dynoflash(25-30whp tuned). you can get all that under 1500$ and make close to 300whp.

Alright when buying parts try to not mix macth the company's try to stay with one product so the parts can get the most power out of them and a proper tune will be reached

Intakes seem the most questionable mod. Do a K&N filter to get started. I can't recommend a flash enough and I'd start by looking at Works' flash. There are others.

Exhaust (after flash and with a flash also tuned for the exhaust upgrade) is biggest bang for the buck. If you can't do it all from the turbo, always start with the rearmost section (cat-back, for example).

Exhaust and a flash are your best first bets - then there's suspension. A GOOD spring kit and rear sway is a start. Otherwise, to coilovers.

Hope this helps.

it can't be said enough. TUNING, or else you've wasted your time modding.
