Regular 6k drops in an evo will cause terminal damage to the standard clutch, and pretty fast too.
Perhaps this ok in texas, although condemning evo clutches to death maybe normal, given the size of death row there

HAHahaha I love it... I think people are getting thier panties in a bunch. Everyone should quiet down, relax. Breath. Go have sex, go drink a . Do something.. Do whatever you want with your car..... ^_^.... At least some people still know how to joke, via deathrow.

Well then, don't take YOUR car to a drag strip, but you know there is going to be a crowd that does, me included.

BTW, I take my 4g63 AWD to the drag strip often and if/when I get an EVO/STi I will be taking it as well

cannyboy, you still didn't answer my question!!! Which means you are answering my question... that you have no clue as to what you are talking about beacuse you have no REAL LIFE actuall experience with the 4g63 AWD!!!

Yes, I think we all read those posts/facts about the stock clutch going rather quickly on the EVO... what can you say it is a STOCK clutch?

But my point again is that you have NO CLUE!!! I dump my 4g63 AWD @ 6K all the time... I have REAL WORLD experience with these types of cars and clutches are all apart of the game... which you don't know because you don't have any experience with them!!!

Thats right yal, in Texas we like fast cars and if that takes beating on clutches... se la vi!!!

Yeah! I've been waiting all week. I have been to the bookstores everyday this week since it was announced here. So far, I only have Automobile magazine. Still trying to get C&D and R&T.

Oh god
All this whinning is sickening
I just recieved my C/D from the mail
This is sorta like a preview or some sort and that's what C/D estimate the EVO will do
Does it really matter if it's off by .2-.3 like any of you could even get those times plus this ain't no drag car

Car and Driver really slamed on the Evo with this one. They purposely wrote it that way because that's probably the way I would of wrote it right after hearing no ACD/AYC and LSD. And on top of that Subaru announced that the STi will have everything.

I'm surprised they know about.
1. No titanimum turbo.
2. No front LSD.

Too bad they think it's due to the "Larger fuel tanks" Apparently they believed in 's lie. THe jdm evo has same fuel tanks with ACD/AYC The truth i feel is $. They didn't expect subaru to give us their electronic diffs. Now they are kicking themselves in the *** and I will be happy to help . I mention 100 time that ACD is a must with STi lurking but Mitsubishi is so stubborn until someone else show them the facts. And that someone unforturnatully is their compeditor "subaru".

I feel they gave the crappy estimates just to tell mitsubish that most people here only care about hi-horspower with warrenty "which I disagree". Or paid by Subaru of course

Before ppl accuse me of being a subaru guy let me give you my reasons why i'm getting the evo.

1. Skidpad and slalom figures to match the ZO6!
2. Well devoloped (the real and newest 4G63)!

We have more HP potential and possibility better handling "depending on sti weight and which sti shocks".

Bottom like is two closely match cars and i'm still confused. If they release the car now it's a no brainer.

Have any of you seen the new Motor Trend numbers? I was at my friends house and he has the new issue. No mention of the Evo anywhere until you get to the list of specs in the back of the magazine. Get this, they give the Evo a 0-60 of 4.3 seconds! That's gotta be a typo or something I thought. The new Viper is listed at 4.1! I don't know, has anyone seen this?

I really wonder if the skidpad & slalom numbers are contributed
by EVO's awesome suspension or Yoko's awesome tires...
Isn't there a rumor that EVO's tires will not last more than 7k mi.?
That suggests very soft and sticky compound....

Personally, I think all handling tests should be done with the
same tires...

Anyways... just curious...

Edit: To be fair... the same goes for other cars that use special
tires... upcoming STi and S2000... to name a few...

I just want to comment that the subaru STi tires look more like slicks and ours look more like comp t/a but softer compound. Not that big of deal. I wouldn't be surprised if the STi tires are better or all about the same.

The reason i feel the evo handles great. For example.
Z06 295
Evo 235's
Same G's....

LIke i said my M3's had MXX3's and i doubt the 046 is much better than that on dry. MXX3 were also 9000mi tires but they're awesome on dry. After they discontinued them i've use SO2's. Not as great on dry but 100X better on water.

Most sports cars, VIPER, corvette, Porshe all use Maximum performance street tires. What i'm saying is that if the Advan 046 is much better than the MXX3, SO2's, SO'3, AVS sports, G-force then that's another story.

Handling test could be inaccurate with the same tires but these are designed for the car so the best comparason is Maximum performance Dry/wet 10,000mi tires versus another 10,000mi tire. What i'm saying is depending on the suspention some tires might work great on a certain car and not as good as another. And vice versa on a similar car

Mitsubishi dropped the ball. At least Subaru picked it up for us....

I am waiting to see how each car does in real world testing. After each have been out for a year, then i'll make my decision.

Anyone want a #4 spot on a list of 20 EVO's?? I have my DP in Florida and Kendall Mitsu
