Since he's just a detail guy, they probably won't try to cover for him - but if he's related to someone higher up in the dealership they might. They can always claim that they had to drive your car to diagnose it for service. They aren't going to jump in and fix a tranny grind without the service manager/technician taking it for a test drive. It is also possible the kid is just making up the fact that he drove the car, he might have just rode with the tech on the diagnosis and juiced up his story. So the odometer won't be definitive proof.

Good luck, but although it is easy for me to say, try to keep a cool head. You can't go in with guns blazing demanding retribution and heads to roll just on some heresay you heard second hand at a party.

that sucks

the service mananger at my mitsu dealer claims after they test drive the vechical they must immediatly report to her and if she smells clutch they are fired. When they drove my car they put .4 miles on it. but then they also stole my radar dectector out of my car and then claimed i never had one

This same thing had happened to me also. When i took my car in for warranty work i set my boost back to run off the wastegate and set the trip meter back to 0.When i came back to pick up my car there was 32 miles on my car and the boost was turned on and was set to 22psi.I filed a complaint with mitsubishi headquarters and they still did nothing. The mits that had my car said they didnt touch anything and didnt drive anywhere.I no longer take my car to that dealer ship.Lancaster county mitsubishi...just so everyone knows.

It's time for an awesome beat down. If i were you...i wouldn't take ANY sh_t from the dealer. if the milage is any more than 2 miles more than before...you have proof they did something wrong.

i would make them sign a contract that you car is personally warrentied by them up to 100,000 miles by THEM or get a lawyer involved.

thats crap bro...i've been doing some reasearch on cars and dealerships and by the way i'm treated when i walk into any other dealer other than mitsu...........mitsu should be out of business the way they treat their customers....from sale to service...it's horrible

you have no idea how much i wish the Lancer Evolution was made by Nissan. The guys at Nissan have been amazing compared to mitsu with my xterra. Like Night and Day....and then you have to consider....if i bought a BMW, Audi, or Mercedes....it's probably like night and day compared to Nissan.........

basically my point is this......Mitsu lost $4.4 billion last year......It's pretty obvious why.

OK...back from the dealer...went in talked to the tech that was working on my car which is a friend of a friend and from what I am told he would NEVER do anything like this and is the head tech there...well the Head Manager for the Service Department happened to be standing right next to us so I just said whats the update with my car its been here 10 days and nothing has been done. The tech says well we just finished your anti-lock sensor and we need to test to see if its all set. I didnt want to say anything yet as I still havent seen the odometer. So I say can I go back and grab something out of my car hoping the tech who was working on my car would go back with me so we could talk a little away from the manager but he said go ahead and stayed with the manager. I went to my car and keys were on seat put the keys in and hoped there would be no more than 2 miles then there it was 8 MILES!!! added to the car. Now I am really pissed I walk back and say I will be back this afternoon for my car finish it today and they were like sure thing. I call my friend who is friends with the tech working on the car and the tech says he had taken the car twice once when it was dropped off to test the anti problem and the second time with the manager as the manager had to run the computer then other than that it was ran a little bit on the lift but the tech said straight up no way he put 8 miles on the car and he was going to investigate and see what he could find out. First person he was talking to is the kid in the detail department. So im sitting here waiting on a call from my friend to see if anything was found out. Once I have all information together is when I will walk in this afternoon and **** will hit the fan. At least the tech admitted to not putting all those miles on and he said no one else should have driven my car so I really dont believe he was the one like I said he is head tech and my friend has known him for years and said def. not that type of guy. So im thinking this Detail kid and another tech went for a ride when the tech who was working on my car wasnt working. IDK ill keep you guys posted...

Agreed. They really don't appreciate their customers... when you come in with a warranty problem they look at you like "oh it's under warranty... we don't have to treat you right" but they forget WHY we have that warranty... IT'S BECAUSE WE JUST BOUGHT A $30.000 CAR!!! People who have good dealers should really appreciate them...MINE SUCKS!!

I work at a Mercedes dealership and this sort of thing happened one time at my work. This time is was a car wash guy that took the car out when he got done washing it. The idiot took it to downtown Baltimore in a pretty bad area to show off to his friends and a friend of the owner saw the car driving around and he called the owner to tell him someone else was driving his car there. The owner promptly called to ask where his car was and when my manager found out about it, he fired the employee on the spot when he returned with the car. Trust me they did everything they could to suck up to the owner of the car so if its a decent dealer that you went to, they should take care of you and the problem.
