The Supras have been desastrous in my opinion. I don't know why everyone insist so much in that car when the car is nothing special.

Yeah, I know that some of you are going to say: what are you talking about?, The Supras can make hundreds of HP and they can run in the 10's and 9's.

That is not the point, the previous Supra(single Turbo) was the most embarassing so called"sports" car in the world, think about this guys, the Toyota engineers managed to squeeze a pathetic 30HP from the non-turbo version.
So their final result was a 3.0liter engine with turbo making 230hp when the non turbo version was rated at 200hp already. To me that is absolutely pathetic.

The previous 230HP Supra was one of the slowest cars ever made, in a European magazine they tested a 230 hp Supra single turbo with auto transmission makin 0-100KM/H in the mid 10s, that is simply unaceptable.

The TT Spras are not bad, they are nice but the car itself is mythtified by some(not by me). I don't know why some stupid people still want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a car that cost the same as a Nissan 300ZX, or a Mitsubishi 3000GTVR4 when new.

Now you can buy a 300ZX for 1/2- 1/3 of what a Supra cost, the same thing goes for the 3000GT VR4.


Pound by pound, the Supra has absolutely no secrets, it made 320HP out of a 3000cc, the Evos make 300HP(cranck) out of a 2.o liter and they have been doing that for years.

If a Supra was car fitted with the 2.0 liter engine single turbo and the Evo would have the 3.0 Single Turbo or Twin Turbo liters nobody would be talking about this issue rigth now.

Botton line, we give importance to a car that does not have absolutely no technological advances and is pricey as hell..

Yeah I know WOTM supra runs 9.1@158 with a TT 3.0 Supra, ok but John Shepperd runs 8.1@177 with a 4 Cylinder

 

**** this has me worried now...I was planning on buying a new IX, but with all the **** said here, I'm kinda thinking twice about it. What if the IX is not as good as the VIII in terms of performance capability? I won't be able to buy a new VIII once the IX's come out, cause it will take a while for people to figure out if the capability in the IX is better than the VIII, ****...

 

Damn dude chill dont let the speculating ruin your weekend.It seems like some people are so worried about if there model evo is going to be considered the "best" that they are willing to trade the one they just got to have the one people on this site regard as the best out the box stock model.

Fact is when the smoke clears all 3 model evos(03,05 and 06) still will all perform relatively close to each other. Then just enjoy the endless possibilities of the aftermarket

 

who knows... maybe all of us non mivec evo's will be swapping on the mivec head and using some sort of mivec controller.. hey it could happen.. isnt there something the tegs used to do.. frankenstein?? something like that. if i remember correctly wasnt it a ls block with a vtec head?

 

if i bought another evo down the road i would buy and 03 or 04... but i would plan on modding it ...

 

Yeah, it's called the Frankenstein. LS model integras did it for the vtec from the gsr or type r. That would be kind of weird if 8 owners did something similiar....Who knows, I guess we will just have to see.

 

Ahh at this point in the game I'm gonna enjoy my 05 EVO. A lot of my car buddies say they like the look of the 8 better whereas I dont mind getting the 9's front end.

Ohh well...

I think the car is rare. In the US we have a population of 270 + Million people. and this year alone I think 617 EVO's were sold nationwide, so i think our cars are rare...

Well from what I read from Motor Trend is the they like the Evo9 alot. I can't remember off the top of my head everything that was stated, but I'll give some numbers. Around 286hp and 290tq, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears were changed, the rear bumper will be the same(crash test reasons), and seat material is different. $500 msrp more across the board on all models. I'll reread the article again and correct any mistake I have made and post what I forgot.
I'm having trouble on which to buy the evo8 or evo9, because I want an MR and I was told that they don't have anymore new MR in the evo8. I'm not to sure on buying a used one.

 

Nobody Knows Anything About The Evo 9 Or Mivec Or How It Performs Or Whatever. It Is Not Even Out Yet, Stop Saying Mivec Is ****, Worthless, Is Going To Suck Whatever. Mitsu Wouldn't Just Add Mivec To The 4g63 For ****s And Giggles!!

 

people talking about mivec having limitations and not being moddable is getting old and i'm sure everyone except the people posting about it are sick of reading it

 

i'll tell you what, if the IX comes out, and sucks, I will leave this board, cuase all the people sayingi the IX is going to be problematic or whatever your saying have no idea what the **** your talking about. it's called the 9 is already eating the evo VIII MR RS up in japan like its nothing (via Best Motoring) so ***** please.
