yes from what i heard the new turbo will make a more little hp i think ten more but minimume tq like only two more compared to the 05's and that peak tq comes from the new mivec set up its not far from 8's numbers maybe on paper at least
plus the new set up head might cause more stress on the engine like i heard the regular lancer were have problems like over heating and stuff i think with parkway driving

Now you can buy a 300ZX for 1/2- 1/3 of what a Supra cost, the same thing goes for the 3000GT VR4.
Pound by pound, the Supra has absolutely no secrets, it made 320HP out of a 3000cc, the Evos make 300HP(cranck) out of a 2.o liter and they have been doing that for years.
If a Supra was car fitted with the 2.0 liter engine single turbo and the Evo would have the 3.0 Single Turbo or Twin Turbo liters nobody would be talking about this issue rigth now.
Botton line, we give importance to a car that does not have absolutely no technological advances and is pricey as hell..

Since this car was so pathetic, please name a car, introduced in 1987, that made it look bad? Could it be the 1987 300zx turbo with it's 200hp? The i-VTEC is leaps and bounds better than the classic VTEC system honda had used for years. The K-series motors RESPOND TO MODS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER HONDA MOTOR EVER...EVER. My K20A made over 50whp more with just header, intake & ECU over stock (remember this is a NA motor). They have the best flowing production honda head, period. And the new aluminium block & oil pan design adds HEAPS of strength. People dump 5K+ into B-series all motor builds to dyno the same as mildly bolted on K-series motors.
Do you even know how i-VTEC works? Or for that matter how standard VTEC works? The ability to rotate the 50 degrees at any given moment in the RPM range is AMAZINGLY useful in making both NA and Boosted power.
The MIVEC system in the 06 EVO will again be LEAPS AND BOUNDS over the under-engineered POS head that currently sits atop the block of the evo in my driveway.
The 4G63 that comes in the EVO is IMO the most under-engineered performance 4 cyl avail today. Iron Block, no variable valve timing, 8.8:1 compression. It's not a great motor by anymeans. It is VERY VERY similar to the B18B motor which is the bargan basement of Honda DOHC, expect even that motor uses an Aluminium block.
VVT on a street car is better than no VVT on a street car. PERIOD.
EVO 9 > EVO 8...the 9 is the better car. End of story.
I wanted to hold out, but couldn't turn down 0% and the invoice pricing that I got on the 8 when I bought it 4 weeks ago.

Anyone who says MIVEC is not a major positive addition to the EVO is making excuses for buying a 30K car that's about to get left in the dust in terms of potential.
Oh and another thing...the K-series ECU is very similar to the EVO ECU in that it is a flashable system. The difference is K-PRO..why no one has released something similar for the EVO is beyond me (well I'm going to go with greed) and angers me to no end. 'Standalone' ECU control while using the stock ECU > * check it out at www.hondata.com

I also read that the 9's 5-speed tranny has better gear ratios for acceleration....
so what if they never made changes to the gearing? I think the 8 would run just as quick as the 9...

well, i agree with fourseven, the only thing is i really don't know what your talking about the 4g63 is the MOST under engineered 4 cylinder available. thats just a stupid and ignorant statement. the 4g63 is an amazing motor, its been used for more than 10 years now, with little to no changes, i don' see the problem with that. that is a retarded statement, but i strongly agree with everything else you say.

Like I said, it's a good motor...not a great one...and it could certainly use a bit of updating....I'm obviously not alone on this given mitsu's addition of MIVEC to the IX.

i understand what your saying, but your still contradicting yourself. why do they need to change it when its proven itself time and time again. i think the addition of mivec is AMAZING. and yes a step in the right direction, but the direction its going in isn't really a missing void of things that need to be added. i mean yeah hondas have strong motors, but i wouldn't say they are so technologically amazing. 2.0 L turbo honda motors are still putting out no torque while the evo is pumping out gobs of it. ok yeah the s2k revs up to 9k but so will the 4g63. The 4g63 is like Lebron James, why go to college when your still in high school and able to beat the **** out of the pros?
