Jedinite, The remote start systems won't work due to the engine immobilizer. This is what i read in the manual, and is what i was told by the shop that installed the alarm.
Coolguy949, the systems can be expensive, but the alarm is very nice because it does come with a paging system with a small screen, along with the turbo timer function. The paging system works up to 1.25 miles in the clear, but with obsticles in the way, more like 0.5 - 1 mile. i'm not sure of the exact model number, but make sure you get the one with spread spectrum technology, it allows the pager to respond from further away.
for exact pricing you should call compustar (they are located in alaska) or your local car audio dealer and see how much it is going to be. if you know someone with a car stereo shop, it will be much cheaper.

Why waste your money on a turbo timer? It's not necessary if you take care of the car, i.e. drive slowly with no boost the last portion of your trip and let it idle for a short time when you stop. No blipping of the gas before shutdown. All modern turbos are water cooled and do not suffer from the "coking" problem that earlier ones did. Besides with all of the warranty violation scares being posted, why chance a fight with Mitsubishi on an unecessary item?
My $.02 Worth + 111,000 miles on my timerless Eagle Talon Tsi AWD + 93,000 on my old MX-6 and 85,000 on my Saab 9-3.

. One of the first things I did was to install a turbo timer. I think that was a big mistake... first, if you drive normally (at least a few minutes at 35 or so mph) before you pull in to park, your turbo should not need a cooling down period. I generally never pull into my parking spot immediately after running ***** to the wall with my turbo glowing red hot ..... Also, as others have said, the manufacturers appear to have made provisions to protect the modern turbos from the dangers of the past. The worst thing that I found about the turbo timers is that since the engine remains running after the ignition key is removed, this causes all kinds of consternation with valet drivers, carwash people, and even techs at the maintenance shops. I always had to tell everybody "oh, by the way, I have this turbo timer and ......." Even so, I've cringed to see carwash monkeys let the clutch out with the car in gear to make it stall. Also, there is always the danger that the clutch be released inadavertently while the engine still runs and the car is in gear ... That's an easy way to have a collision
Another thing, since you cannot leave the car in gear when you walk away (the engine is still running), you must rely on the emergency brake. Those brakes can wear or get out of adjustment so that the car will not hold in steep hills, particularly if parked pointing up hill. It's very scary and you look quite ridiculous running back to your car and trying to unlock it and stop it as it slowly builds up speed while rolling backwards towards another car a wall or what have you......
Finally, I noticed a significant drop in fuel economy from the extra minutes the engine ran with the car stopped every time I turned the ignition off
All in all, I think for most people the turbo timer is a waste of money or worse.
peace,
Manuel
