I have a Lightning Audio battery that powers my JL 1000/1, 450/4 and 2 12" Eclipse Titanium subs. Just as good as the Optima without the yellow or red tops. Mainly black although it does have some purple. Works great for me though.

With your system, and not really using the woofer(s) often, you should've been fine with the OEM battery... Now, if the batt went dead after a few days in the garage, there's something (within the sound system or another electrical accessory) that's consuming a considerable amount of power even while the car's off. You may want to check that first with an amp-meter. There's also the chance your OEM battery had a defect, and there isn't a real problem with your electrical system...
Just my $.02
Good luck!

I agree, I would also check to see if every thing is grounded properly and check the 12v remote lead wire going to the amps

My homies over at Audio Options (who build some of the finest audio systems in the country) recommend dry cell batteries like Odyssey. I had that in one of the systems they built for me - running 2 sets of components for front stage - one set in stock location, one set in footwell - rear fill, 3 amps, two 10" subs... never had a single problem. Never had a problem with a dead battery either.

What about the Exide Orbitals? Are they any good? I had an Optima Yellow top in my integra and it died around winter (less than a year)
