Question Proper jack stand placement

I have to put the old EVO up on jack stands, and had a question. I place the jack under the front of the car door where the jack should go according to the manual. However, there is no room for the stands when the (Sams club jack) is there. Where is a safe place to put the jack stands when the jack is holding the car up? thx all..

be very careful with the ridge of metal that the stock jack placement is supposed to go on. If you get outside the prescribed area, i.e. you start trying to support closer to 1/2 the cars weight instead of 1/4, that ridge will bend easily. In other words, don't try to lift the car from halfway between the two tires.

But to answer your question, where the lower suspension ties to the frame, or anywhere you can get a good bite on the front crossmember should be good. The rear isn't as critical, as most of the weight is up front. If your jack is in the way of installing your rear jackstands, just get them as close as you can to the jack and you will be fine.

No need to jack on any of the subframes or suspension pick up points...the jack points aren't even deep under the car. The front is in the center, removal of the small panel on the undertray is necessary. The rear point is the rear diff. Do a search as there is probably a diagram floating around for this.

I will check the manual on this, I admit I did not. When I had a Talon I ended up bending the lip. OK, thx all...

Check this thread out. It has a post of the service manual's recommended floor jack points: front under a panel in the undertray, rear- the diff. Scroll down about 1/3rd of the way down.

Hope this helps. I know jacking up this car can be a bit nerve-wracking at first!
