just remember, driving the car hard DOES NOT void the warranty. nor does accelarating to the speed limit quickly. only abuse does it, track day stuff might, but daily driver commuting through the mountains IS covered. just fight it. make him put it in writting as to why they wont cover it, then call teh BAR

for 03-04 evos they already issued a tsb so no questions asked your cal will be fixed but for the 05-06 models there is no tsb yet so they let the district man. see tha car be4 they fix it...
I have found most dealerships are affraid to warranty any evo's without pre approval by a corp. tech. You're tires are only meant to last between 8-12K miles MAX..Your best bet is to call mitsu motors customer service...give them the last 8 digits of your vin and tell them exactly whats going on...let them know the service manager whomever has told you your trans may not be covered b/c they feel the car has been overdriven based on tire wear....see what they tell you.
They will tell you it IS covered hell you have a d/t warranty up to 60K...atleast I do...dont let them tell you to wait until it gets worse...take down the name of who you talked to at corporate and if they try to tell you they will not warranty it, let them know you talked to ______ over at mitsu corp. and they told you it would be covered...if they still say no, tell them you want them to put it in writing as to exactly why it is not covered when your warranty states that it is....
More than likely they will suck it up and do the repair, if not....go back and talk to corporate again, and let them know you have this letter and you think it's BULL****.
The problem will be resolved.

They cannnot entirely VOID your warranty unless you have a full blown race car...they can red flag your warranty and make notes saying that it is modified etc....but in order for them to void a specific area such as your motor...they have to be able to proove and put in writing that the damage or problem was a direct result of something you have modified on the car.
"US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 "
good ol mitsu.....where's that thread with the guy who doesn't want to mod cause it might void his warrenty? let him read this and then decide if he's going to mod........
I just think it's bull**** that you have to look up all the legal terms in order to get warranty done.
Mitsu will first tell you no...then you say ok well I"ll ask corporate, then mitsu will say they will look into it no need to call corporate, then they'll look for any loop holes...then you have to bring up the Consumer Bill of Rights...it's like a ****ing battle....
There is a bulletin on 5th gear syncros on the evos...I'm trying to get a copy of it right now, because I"m going through the same battle...also, the dealer tried to tell me that they wont provide me with a loaner car...i'm like it's covered under my warranty of you guys have my car overnight, the dealer says no the warranties were ammended...I"m like oh really....call corporate..they say that this is bull**** and that I do get a loaner car at no charge if my car is kept overnight for warranty work...so then I have to go back into the dealer and talk to the service manager again and pretty much say listen jackass...stop trying to f*** me over...heres the page in my manual, in my warranty, and in my service call book....also, I spoke with Angellica at corp. do you need her number? Get me a loaner car....
