THere is a decibel level limitation of 95 db for a catback, however, even if yours is under that they'll still issue you a ticket and make you go to the referee. I guess that's "enforcing" the law

Typical kneejerk over-reaction by the government. Sure, the street racing can be dangerous and people do have the right to be safe in the streets. Also, the emissions regulations are there for good reasons. Air pollution is a proven health hazzard. However... Coming down on people for lowering their cars, adding exhausts, stickers or blue hoses smaks of a totalitarian regime. I think cops ought to be looking for serious crime (try murder, assault, rape, kidnapping, etc.) and leave hot rodders alone.

Yes I am, I'll give you a couple of guess as to who I work for also...

Now as for the reason why those things are illegal? They are illegal because some politician's got complained too, someone had a bad day, and/or someone figured out that they could make money off of writing the citations. Most likely someone got killed in a street racing incident. Somoene said "hey, we need to outlaw this" so they did. People of course kept doing it, that won't change. So in order to aid officers in catching the people who were breaking the law, sterotypes were established. Are stereotypes right? NO, NOT AT ALL! But do stereotypes work? Ask yourself, if something happens often enough to establish a pattern, might it be true enough to use it? If i'm driving down the street, and a integra with an exhaust, wheels, stickers, and a giant wing is next to me.... 50% of the time they will challenge me in the Evo. So lets say cops noticed this, they start pulling people over. 50% of the people who they ticket for these things use it for street racing, and YES they would be doing society a favor. You think that all streetracers openly admit to what they are doing the minute they get pulled over? Guess what, NOBODY is a streetracer when the cops are asking!

I'm not saying that profiling is right. But it does work. I'm not saying the things that are illegal should be illegal. I think they should be legalized, I think weed should be legal too, but IT IS NOT. So as long as it is illegal, we as citizens are supposed to abide by it. If we deem that we should not blindly follow laws, then we should take the steps to change the laws.

However blame the LAWMAKERS, not the ENFORCERS.

And yea, to the smartass who said the "db limit is 95, even if your not violating you get a ticket, is that enforcing?" but in more words. If you check the vehicle code closer, instead of regurgitating evom opinion, you will not the VC says something along the lines of "all vehicles which emit a excess noise, distracting, or annoying noise." THOSE traits are outlined as officers discretion. So if your fart can sounds like a dying cat, but its under 95db, you can still be cited. It will go to court, then you can drag the judge outside and see if he thinks that its an annoying sound.

So again, its no the cops fault your breaking the law. VOTE.

Lastly, realize you represent the VAST minority here. There are like what? 8 million people in LA? 7.9 million of those people HATE us and our annoying cars. Put yourself in the LE, or political mindset. Make 99% of the people happy, and annoy the 1% or vice versa?

EDIT: In case you didn't realize this, you sound like a bunch of pot heads. Blaming the police for arresting them. Nobody is saying the law is right, but its still the law.

You first think that weed should be legalized, then you call us potheads....I'm confused.

And no I don't street race...I agree it should be illegal, but stereotyping is rediculous.

Unfortunately yes. Cops here are like a$$es. They will come up w/ any excuse to pull over the imports, already had experience.

Some are jerks and some are nice. It all depends on the luck here in cali.

Uhm, I don't think weed should be illegal.

I think your acting like potheads.

They are seperate but related points. Again, if you would refer to my post I said the things you are complaining about should be legalized, but they are not. I then refered you to a pothead. Complaining about something with no action to correct the situation. Whether or not the action is moral, it is illegal. That is the point I am conveying.

Where are you lost?

Edit: Also if stereotyping was ridiculous, it would not be so effective.

This such BS. I don't live in Cali but I get harassed by Cops all the time in NY. The other day I'm going 25mph the cop bucks a illegal U-turn and gives me a ticket for a loud muffler. This is one of my many harrassment I've had with PIGS.

my buddy was pulled over for painted rims. he painted his rims black to match the car. a few days later, pulled over for it. he fought it and sorta won. but court fees alone were like 80, his ticket was like 110.

Damn that **** is rediculous! I can imagine what kind of garbage you all in Cali must put up with , being all emissions friendly and all. I know in Michigan, if it drives, its legal.

More than 25% of all cars/trucks in Michigan smoke like cheech and chong! It is kinda cool that they don't care as much about noise, and mods, but when you are stuck behind Jed Clampet in his '83 Ford F150 smokin' all over the place, soundin' like friggin' Nascar... it gets pretty old!!!

Sometimes I wish there were firmer laws here just to keep the trash off the roads.
