[Nuisance] Gearshift Squeak

I just started getting an annoying "plastic on plastic" squeak from my gearshift when going into second. It's worse if you put pressure to the left as you shift, but there even if you don't. I assume it's just the collar and the cage rubbing against each other, but I was just wondering if anyone else has the same sound, and if there's any way I can grease it without taking out the whole center console. (Lazy ftw).

I have the same thing!!! From 1st to 2nd. Mine goes away when it gets warmed up though. I don't know if I want to take it in or take it apart to lube it. It's probably normal

You'll need to take off your center console and lube the base of the shifter were it makes contact with the plastic housing. The grease has dried up and is causing the annoying rubbing sound. Syl-glide should be okay to use and can be purchased at your local napa auto parts.

I used to have it all the time in my 03. Havent heard it in the 06 yet. I guess it will probably start sooner or later. It was kind of annoying but I was always too lazy to mess with it.

I got the same exact thing at around 2.5k miles. It's annoying as hell and my passenger thought there was a crowing rooster once. "Who the hell has a rooster in our neighborhood?". I told him that was my transmission making a rubbing noise.

I guess I'll get some syl-glide. Is that the recommended lube to use?
