Goodbye EVO goodbye Mitsu....
I live in the snowbelt so that limited my choices to All-wheel drive. I wanted something fun but comfortable and easy to live with and I wanted to make it a fairly even trade since I didn't plan to replace the Evo for at least another year. I also wanted something that would hold its value for a few years until I trade it on something new.
My wife has a WRX so that was out. I tried out a few STI's but I wasn't crazy about the feel or the lack of a sunroof and I thought that would lead into the same expense mess.
I tried out a Mazdaspeed 6 and it was OK but hard to find, I wanted to see what the new BMW 335 would be like but it's too early for that. I had an opportunity to try out a friends car and I loved it. I also got lucky enough to find one at a great price and in my color.......WHAT is it you say....

I didn't read the thread.... I got into an evo expecting nothing out of my warranty. I don't expect anythign from warranty's ever since I got screwed on a bunch of things with my bmw....
overall a warranty is generally not worth the paper it's printed on.

Excellent. I think you just got tired of the car.

Actually the choice to sell the Mitsu was more of a financial one but I guess you can say I was tired of the stress.
I'm not under the illusion that ANY dealer or manufacturer is without hassles. In this case I'd kick myself if I remained with a delaer and manufacturer that I had a long-term relationship with that treated me so poorly. Could the VW have a headache? Sure and who knows what this dealer will do. But at least it will be under warranty.

I've owned lots of cars. Every one can be a great car experience or a pain in the ***. Right now and for the next few years this car was a good choice. Time will tell. In any case the choice was more to get OUT of the Evo.
Actually the R has been a great car so far, feels nice on the road, fun to drive, great brakes, and very usable power.
Are there some other suggestions out there?

I'm not sure why people take offense to this. It was simply poor customer service by the dealership and Mitsu and I'm choosing to get out from underneath both.
I don't understand, you complain of the high price of fixing the EVO but then you look at cars that are as high in cost to fix. VW/Audi is not cheap to fix neither is the STi. And if you are done playing for the EVO the money you save on monthly payments will easily pay for the fixing broken parts. If you are almost done paying for it then it is just a matter of bearing it out. I guess I can understand your logic of always buying something new to have a warranty of some sort but its not ultimately the cheaper route.
Your frustration seems to stem from the dealers inability to diagnose the problem properly ... you could always go to a perfomance shop you trust to work on your car in the future
Goodluck as long as you are happy that is all that matters.

Yes I like fun cars and they will always be expensive cars to fix. I guess the trick with these cars is to not own them out of warranty. I actually do have access to OUR race shop mechanics. Trouble is many things are dealer only or you void the warranty....and please lets not start the Magnussen Moss warranty debate here again.
I agree the dealership mis-diagnosed the problem and then they and Mitsu refused to make it right. In the end they saved $500 but lost a customer. Sad but true.
