I was actually OK with my dealership. I have no modifications so that was never an issue. They just have some wierd issue with Evos...my friend says that at all the car auctions the same bad reputation follows the car...

Bottom line I think it was an excellent time for me to let the Evo go on its way to some other owner.

since this thread is going nowhere and is just your opportunity to bash a car that most everyone on here owns and is happy with I give you the new title..

Goddbye EVO goodbye Mitsu... goodbye wmcorcor

enjoy the r32 and I am sure we will see the same rants on the vw boards when you have an issue with it and the dealer doesn't bend over.

You thought the Evo was expensive, and it was always broke... dude your in for a world of hurt. I am a tech for VW's at a dealership.
Let me say this;
Look out for the upper timing chain that stretchs... you will need to pull the trans to fix that... And TRUST me you ain't gone pull that in the driveway. Its proly a 15+ hour job on a lift... last one I did. And I am very qiuck at it.(8 year master tech)
Coolent temp switchs ALWAYS go bad.
Brake light switchs ALWAYS fail... we have had 2 recalls on them, and the replacement switchs still fail.
I just can't get over how you think the Evo was expensive to replace parts on... Dude you are F*cked.
Good luck putting gas in it, sometimes it takes 15 mins to fill it up
The tranny's really suck in them things, shift forks break(there are made of brass), mine was so loud. 2 weeks after I bought mine I had to pull the trans out and replace a bad rear main seal that would leak a out a quart of oil in a week
Bulbs always blow out, and some of them a dealer only bulbs that cost $5 or more.
Have fun with your new peice of sh*t, you'll be making alot of payments on it while it sits at the dealership waiting on parts, cause VW depots never have anything in stock.
OMG the R32 is actually a really nice car. Actually my Evo was not always broke at all. I said the experience I had with the car, the dealership and Mitsubishi made me decide to not give them my business anymore.

I won't own the R32 out of warranty and actually I said the brembo caliper on the Evo was $1300 and un-rebuild-able not all parts are expensive.

I don;t do any of my own work so I suspect I won;t be changing a timing belt in the driveway....under warranty.

Lets not start comparing recalls or known major issued on the R32 to the Evo.

Dude you're actually pretty hostile. If I kept the Evo I'd be F&*&(cked.

If you don't like the car don't buy it. I don't have ANY payments on the car and it IS under warranty.

If we were in vegas would anyone be betting the odds of the Evo breaking over the R32?

I LIKED my Evo. It WAS a fun car. I'm relieved it is gone and I'm HAPPY with the R32 (even if YOU think it is a POS).

from the tone in your previous thread, it seems like you were itchin to get out of your Evo the entire time.

I think this car was probably never meant for you. No offense intended.

Read the thread. Actually I haven't bashed anything here except the customer service I didn't receive. I've said this 10 times already and I'll say it again. I LIKED my EVO. It was a fun car. This is no rant. Read the thread and see who is bashing and ranting. In fact go back and read ALL of my threads. I've been very happy with the car and very polite in this thread, despite some of the comments coming my way. I started this thread to say bye and thank the members for their help over the years. You're reading this all wrong. I'm not asking the dealer to bend over anything.....read...

No offense taken. Actually I'm not sure what that would even mean. I've owned plenty of high performace street and track cars...front rear and all wheel drive. I'm not sure any car is or is not meant for anyone.

If there is "tone" in the previous thread it was the tone of someone who car has been tied up for 8 days. I've had cars I loved turn out to be great or awful cars. I've had cars I hated turn out to be great long term cars. I really liked the EVO. It was a fun car and I had no plans to get rid of it for over a year...keep in mind I could have traded it ANY time. If not for the disaster customer service that Mitsu and the dealer provided I'd still be in it now. This is not a bash of the Evo. It was a fun and fast car.

For someone who has owned plenty of high performance cars, it just seems like you got rid of the Evo rather quickly in my opinion. As you must know, high performance cars come with a price - they're not gunna last nearly as long as a honda civic or toyota corolla...

True, you seemed mostly pissed off at the dealer. But I guess my point is if you really liked to Evo you would have taken it to another dealer to get it serviced. I have a 300zx that just kept breaking all the time and the dealership wasn't as bad as your experience but I'd say the headache was compensated by the ammount of time and $ spent on the car. But I loved the damn thing, and found a way to make it work.

Just to me seems like you ditched the Evo before considering other possabilities. I dunno I could be wrong Either way you, you did have a sh*tty experience with the stealership

Fair opinion. I did plan to keep it longer but could not sleep at night worrying about my brakes jamming on at speed and could not live with myself if I put another penny into the dealership or Mitsu's pockets.

I've paid to play all my life. I know the price and I'm willing to pay UNTIL I get bad customer service....REAL bad customer service. Then it's time to talk with your wallet and move on. I am dissapointed by both so I don't want to inconvenience myself by going to another dealership and still patronizing Mitsu. I stressed over the decision for weeks. I wanted to keep the car longer. I've never had this sort of experience happen with ANY car before. It is a shame all around.

Would anyone trust the car after that or not worry about what damage that has done to your brakes, rotors and clutch???
You never told us how many miles were on your Evo. What was the mileage at? And when was the last time that you had its brake fluild changed?

Old, boiled brake fluid may have led to your blockage.... And if that's the case, your experience may be valuable to other Evo owners.

The Evo is the best car I have ever driven. The Mitsubishi customer service is the worse I have ever seen.

I have a lot of horror histories with the Mitsubishi dealer assistance. I'm a Mitsubishi owner since 1998. Montero, Galant, Evo etc... and ALWAYS I have been dealing with poor quality mechanics and you know...

The point is: You are more important, not the car. If you are happy with VW or subaru, chevrolet, BMW etc... go for it.

I agree. It was a fun car but time to hand it off to someone else. I've had two different cars that I traded both end up on the track and both end up rolled into a ball within days. One mustang at Laguna and one RX-7 at Sebring...hopefully the Evo finds a happy home and maybe a happy home on the track too. I'll be watching here on Evom, at least for a few days to see if someone pops in on a new thread saying they just bought an Evo.

Yea it's up there earlier somewhere in the 6 pages above. 34K, original fluid (checked previously at dealership) and ORIGINAL PADS. Show me many Evo owners that got 34K out of their original pads and then help me understand how major braking system parts would fail that early and still not be considered a defective part when the brakes were obviously babied?

I agree. It is my hope that ALL of this helps other Evo owners. They have always been helpful to me so I hope this gives back in some way.

Agreed....at least certainly one of the fastest and best handling I've ever driven.
Agreed...their customer service has been very poor in this incident.
Agreed....I've owned Eclipses since there WERE Eclipses. This is best for me. Individual experiences may vary but I can't stay after mine.
