My friend that took it to the auction said it was like a hooker. Fun to drive for a few days but impossible to live with for very long.

The master cylinder diagnostic test is an easy 4 step procedure and its right in the service manual.
There were a hundred different things they could have done from a technician service or customer service standpoint that would have made the result much better.
Good luck with the MR. Write down your miles when you go in and out to be sure you don't get the 7-mile oil change.

As far as handling and brakes it's been very strong. I would not call it soft but it is certainly softer than an Evo.

My Dad has bought four Hondas from the same dealership. When he walks in with a problem, they bend over backwards to help him out.
My brother-in-law bought a Hummer & a new Escalade from the same dealership. You think they're going to bother him with a $500 brake job expense?
After you get hosed, sometimes you act just on the principle even if you take a loss. If a dealership tried to screw me over, I'd feel inclined to do the same thing you did.

man the vw has so many electronics problem and engine seals go bad pretty often, replacement parts are more expensive than evo. I will never own a VW if it's out of warrenty period. You should get a 07 v6 camry (270hp) w/navigation and leather seats or something similar if you want reliability/comfort, it is and always was #1 in service and reliability ever since it was introduced in the US market
sounds to me like the whole issue comes down to 2 things..
1- you had poor support from a dealer
2- the car was getting to the point that some of the "consumable" items needed replaced and the warranty had expired.
can't blame all that on mitsu. it's more on the dealers. I have experienced the good/bad dealer syndrome with the evo and some will not work with warranty issues and some will, not the fault of mitsu or the cars, it's all the dealers. did you push the issue with mmna hard at all? posts don't indicate that. if you had the diagnostic records showing the problem had been reported ahead of time, mmna probably would have done something with it.
no doubt the r32 is a good car, but once the warranty expires, the expenses will be the same as the evo and at the hands of another dealership that didn't sell you the car new to begin with so, from the way I read the original post and this thread, you REALLY just wanted another car with a warranty attached, and even if the brakes had been repaired, the car probably was headed for the chopping block shortly anyway.

The Evo ride was fun when the weather is nice and the roads are twisty. Cushy is OK the rest of the time. When you break it out here in the northeast with my commute, 95% of the time is cushy time.

Agreed...I said master cylinder all along. They didn't even check for an ABS code even after I suggested it on day 5. They were pathetic and Mitsu supported their pathetic-ness.

They even call me & let me know when my service is due.

Let me say this;
Look out for the upper timing chain that stretchs... you will need to pull the trans to fix that... And TRUST me you ain't gone pull that in the driveway. Its proly a 15+ hour job on a lift... last one I did. And I am very qiuck at it.(8 year master tech)
Coolent temp switchs ALWAYS go bad.
Brake light switchs ALWAYS fail... we have had 2 recalls on them, and the replacement switchs still fail.
I just can't get over how you think the Evo was expensive to replace parts on... Dude you are F*cked.
Good luck putting gas in it, sometimes it takes 15 mins to fill it up
The tranny's really suck in them things, shift forks break(there are made of brass), mine was so loud. 2 weeks after I bought mine I had to pull the trans out and replace a bad rear main seal that would leak a out a quart of oil in a week
Bulbs always blow out, and some of them a dealer only bulbs that cost $5 or more.
Have fun with your new peice of sh*t, you'll be making alot of payments on it while it sits at the dealership waiting on parts, cause VW depots never have anything in stock.

I will likely not own the R32 out of warranty either. Actually the plan was to keep the Evo at least another year. I planned to hold it until the Evo X came out or something else. I could have traded the car at any point I owned it any time I wanted....without all this hassle. Had they paid for the $500 master cylinder I'd probably still own it.
No one has even discussed in here the brake issue itself. How comforting do you think it is t have the brakes come on full tilt at 60MPH, and then have it happen again and again after they fixed it....then have the dealership put 60 miles on the car over 8 days all the while the brakes are locking until they were smoking. Would anyone trust the car after that or not worry about what damage that has done to your brakes, rotors and clutch???
