I own a VW GTI 2003 20th anniversary and you want to talk about problems....heh, i love my VW no doubt but the headaches i've had it's not worth it, it's up for sale right now looking for another car. VW's customer service isn't any better than anyone elses, each car has problems and issues and some dealerships are nice and some aren't, but the 1 think i've learned from buying a VW and my other friends that own them, is that i hope you love squeaks and rattles because they all have em loud as %$$#

Id never let a dealer touch any performance car excluding a ferrari, or Lambo they do more harm than good. You made a good decsision if you dont work on your own stuff. If you did youd still have your EVO cause that master cyl/Brake booster job could have been fixed easily and alot cheaper if you did it your self. Plus you would not have bouht that R32 for fear of having to work on it. Mitsu service is the worst but I knew that prior to buying my EVO and hers. I had an Integra a while back that had issues that could have probably been fixed under warranty but I'd never let anyone else but me touch my car. (excluding friends and Adam at Boosted Solutions) (Thanks for the help on the clutch install man)
Thanks...I only drive 'em....no time, expertise or tools to wrench myself.

In case you haven't heard, Volkswagen Service isn't any better. I owned a VW and they do NOT like to cover warranty costs. They will kick and fight until death.

I had a 2002 1.8T GTI and the finish on the wheels was defective. They started peeling within about 4 weeks of getting the car. I contacted the dealership and they told me to bring it it.

The wheels were in perfect shape-flawless. Instead of giving me a new set of wheels, Volkswagen decided to put my car up on blocks for the better part of a week while the wheels were sent back to Germany, refinished, and then sent back. For every repair you get, the dealerships will contact VOA (Volkswagen of America) first to authorize the repairs.

You're leaving one company with poor customer service for another.

Exactly, I wasn't trying to be hostile at all. I just think going from one expensive to repair race prepped import to another expensive to repair regular import is funny. I had a buddy that just got a quote for $1500 to fix a bad oil leak on his VW that was just out of warranty. All dealers are the same man... they are all bastards. My original response was on that note.

Now on the other hand, if you're happy with your new VW then that is what is important.

Me, I will take the performance of my IX with a few simple bolt ons over any VW. But, I care about performance every minute I'm behind the wheel. Some ppl are content with driving anything with 4 wheels that can hit the speed limit during the week and save the toys for the weekend though.

I guess we'll see what the future brings. At least the VW will be in warranty for some time to come and the Evo was not.

We honestly can't be arguing that an R32 will be noisier than an Evo are we?

So you're telling me that if Mitsu and your dealership treated you this way you'd still give them your business? I am happy with the R32 and I suspect all cars break. I spend my money where I'm treated well and don't spend it where I am not. You guys all seem to think that somehow having the ultimate street car says something about you personally. The R32 is a great car. I race other cars on the track. The R32 is a street car....and guess what...it's faster than you think. Can an Evo beat it? Head to head with equal drivers...sure....head to head with unequal drivers...who knows....but AGAIN it's a street car. Also keep in mind that no matter WHAT you drive on the street or track....there will ALWAYS be someone faster. I like the balance of having a fun car that can do more than hit the speed limit AND having a weekend race car too.

Then you understand how I felt about the Evo after the brake issues.

yea but i don't mind putting money into something i like... i don't really care about warranties because a lot of these techs do more wrong then good as someone stated before and is worthless for the most part.

i had an 04 r32 i bought brand new and i sold it when one of my stock rims liteally cracked in half (THANK GOD it didnt happen while i was doing 100mph)and they refused to cover it (and supposedly theyre OZ wheels), i didnt even hit anything and it cost me $900 !! for one rim and one tire. VW's warranty poicies suck. I have also heard airbags deploying at random as someone stated above

so thats my story about "goodbye R32 goodbye VW"

OH I wasnt debateing this at all. VW's suck too dealer wise my friends had nothing but headaches. The only reason I said he did the right thing is cause he doesnt work on his own cars and he pays dealers to do so. For him a warranty in a must. Me Id never use them anyway. I dont trust anyone to touch my car when Im not right there.
