Oh yea and the tranny in a guy at works brand new M3 just took a crap. It was covered after they gave him a hell of a hassle. (Oh thats right BMW doesnt hassle you on warranty work) . Yea right
Was the downfall of the transmission his fault? Did he misshifted by anychance? Was he modified? Did he go to a dealership with poor reputations?

bmw only covers oil changes for like 5 years i think....but the warranty is very good....my friends 330xi has free maintenance including brakes and TIRES for 5 years....he has brought it in for ripped interior which was also covered under warranty....If i remebeber correctly, the tire warranty covers blowouts and wear with no questions asked. You can practically slice your own tire and you bring it in and they mount and balance the new one for free....only thing i think he has paid for soo far was a detail and some lockout issue with the radio

Like stated before 2 different cars, 2 different categories and 2 different styles. The 335i will cater to certain ppl more than others. It's a nice *** car and i'll get it over the M3 anyday but it takes a V6 with twin turbo to get 300HP when the Evo is a 4cyl with 286HP. To me i think the keepin your Evo would be a better idea, it does respond well to mods and its alot lighter and more nimble. Like i said 2 diff. cars so it depends on what u are lookin for right now.

I hope your quote doesn't imply that the owners of Supras and RX8 are selling off their cars for the 335i (well maybe not the RX8 owners).

If I had a Supra TT I wouldn't sell it for a 335i.

I like the 335i but like many have said it would be a car to augment my Evo not replace it.

It might replace my Acura TL whose lease ends next March though

The evo, you either love it or hate it.
That bimmer is a nice car and most people will like it. Power rating is attractive as well.

I've told myself never to buy a bimmer again after having so many problems with the old 740il. But this is a new one with all warranty... it shouldn't be that bad. Bimmer has really good resale value so may be you just need to try it out for awhile and see. Do let us know how it goes.

Ok guys here is my 2cents. I currently own a E36 M3 and its modded nicely. i spent around $5k on it and only dropped 2-3 tenths off my 1/4. Its a damn shame. I love the interior and the body styling and built quality is really out of this world.

YET, it does have eletrical problems, and the parts for this thing aftermarket or oem are very pricy. cat backs are $550 and up!. Also when you go to shops to get it fixed they see the car and try and charge you more.

The good: people say "you got a bmw" so they think your loaded, its a good highway race car, Motors are stong as hell and trannys are well too. Rearends are bad,so are the mounts!.

Value: my car is almost 8 years old and i am going to get 17k for it. lets see an evo after 8 years. IDK like $7,000 if its stock.

Point made......YET, I AM STILL BUYING A EVO 8!! hahahah These Evo's are just 2 much fun!

No mods he just got it. He drives it hard Im sure but he hasnt tracked it. no he said it just started grinding going into 2-3. No miss shifts (that he mentioned). But a miss shift would'nt take out two syncros. By the way its a 6,000 dollar tranny. New tranny is fine so far.

Yeah, Bimmer, twin turbo, i hope soon ppls will start switch their cars, buy that 335, and every one get BOV + exhaust for inexpensive $/power+sound mod => make all the popo go after those 335, all the insurance bring 335 up in the list "highest insurance car" so that my Evo would gain its fairness in insurance+popo problem.

So buy 335 if you please, give it a BOV+big exhaust = i keep my evo and i say :thank you

from the factory the only performance aspect the 335i tops the Evo at is off a highway roll.

also after a long day of work, i personally find it satisfying to drive home in a car as fun as the Evo; it certainly relieves me of some of the stress during the day (of course i dont "relieve my stress" with other drivers on the road around me) i've fallen asleep in cars too comfortable before lol - but thats personal preference.

some of u guys need to wait a bit longer and see how the 335i really responds to mods. i'm not doubting Vishnu, but so far he's one of the very few people producing data for the 335i IIRC.

$3000 for 330whp/350wtq....it'd take the IX less than $2000 to have more (yes i know the Evo will need more whp to take a 335i on the highway) - at the entry level for mods at least, at this point, it seems the Evo isn't exactly falling behind

i guess if u guys are into comfy/luxurious interior, the 335i is a good choice. from a performance standpoint the Evo still has the edge in every aspect _at this point_.

as for getting profiled by cops.....i've never been pulled over and gotten hassled randomly. i'm almost sure it's just how u drive the car. i didnt get pulled over when i had my mr2, which had pretty loud exhausts and a BOV, or my integra gsr with a loud catback, or my s2000...
