Thanks for the support guys.

I'm ****in depressed right now...

It's so ironic how car companies keep pushing out more powerful cars, yet the laws become more strict with each passing month.

I never thought I'd say it but I really regret buying the Evo now... My dream car for I can't even remember how long... that's pretty sad...

okay okay, I understand, when I boost, it's hard to get off the accelerator. I got a good solution for you though.

Call XCopper, they're canadian, and they're a team of x-police officers... They'll help you out.

Dem: I don't want to risk it even with X-Copper. I really want to get a good lawyer than can make sure I don't lose.

yea here is a great idea! lets give advise on how to commit a felony, which is a 3rd deg crime in jersey. 5-10 years in jail for eluding. honestly you should get a warning or a ban for a while.

The only question question to be concerned with in a situation like this is... What would Vin do?

You are right: spend the money for on good lawyers and you'll pull through. But I bet if you talk to crown before hand, everything would be fine.

I know you're stressing, but you won't lose your car, especially when they have no proof of you doing anything. You were speeding. Not racing... There's a big difference. Plus if you're driving a EVO in canada, they might think it's 'modded out'... But once you explain to the judge that your car just looks like a modded civic, and it's not part of any underground racing team, then nothing would happen to you. At most you deserve is a speeding ticket, but to be claimed for street racing is just too rash of a decision for a 1st time offender.

It sucks that you weren't in either hamilton / london when this happened, I know a few cops that could've pulled some strings for me. And end this entire thing in a day.

P.S. did this happen on the 401 or 403?

here in florida they have a law called exhibition of speed, meaning burning out, drifting and what not, i was once pulled over for this and i thought it was the most ridculous thing, funny thing was i was just sped off quickly to avoid traffic and the guy tells me that ohh i chirped my tire on my auto RSX, some cops can be real dicks, i know this because i work for a law enforcment agency. good luck with everything i would try fighting that case.

In Elk Grove, if you get caught for street racing you can get your car impounded, get a fine, and go to jail. They're not playing.

You stand a fair chance of beating the cops in court, and even a bigger chance if it's on the weekends (or Friday, I'm not lying). What really sucks is that Evolution's just have the image of a racer, and it's something we'll have to live with.

Light turns green and you guys jet out. Going to the race spot?

So out of the 5 original cars, 2 of you are keeping pace with each other, going the same direction to apparently the same location. Close race, perhaps?

I don't think I need to go any further to illustrate my point. The cops are not in the business of giving us the benefit of the doubt. They're law enforcement, not law interpretation. Interpreting the law is the job of the courts.

Go to court, tell the judge exactly what you told us and as long as your friend can tell the story the same way, you two should be fine. You might also try to get ahold of the other 3 drivers and bring them in too. Having more people who were present at the scene, all of whom tell nearly identical versions of the same incident, tends to hold a bit of weight.

You're screwed on the speeding charge though.
Interpreting the law is for the courts, but what you described is interpreting the situation, which is exactly what a cop is supposed to do.

Bottom line, they were speeding, but they weren't racing and it's lame to hit them with an additional charge.
