Sitting around for five minutes in Florida to warm up the engine is a waste of gas and not necessary IMHO.

Being from alaska and all 15 min is really normal here. Everyone does it from imports to domestic old to new. It really depends on how cold it really is. Even with a 2 min warm up the car still feels cold and hard from the steering to the braking.

its true its for emissions but it helps maintains your car because you want to get the car idling at a good rate meaning that the pistons and the valves are going to get lubricated. This is important when you are pushing your engine especially when you race it. If you have turbo, that is why you should get a turbo timer, help you maintain turbo.
