What makes me wonder is how they can actually prove that it is a specific person on a forum... Names and locations from the profile shouldnt mean anything..
photos without license plates or faces shouldnt mean anything either..

I bugs me to think that they think they are "smart" for checking the forums.. If something happens to my car i was never here. if they can prove the parts were on my car then fine, but thats a shot in the wind if you ask me.. thats like me accusing them of putting them on there (i was framed with performance parts!!!) i guess what im saying is I DONT EXIST ON HERE !!! I AM A FRIEND OF AN EVO OWNER ACTING LIKE I HAVE ONE!!!

i dont see why you didnt put it back to stock before you took it to the dealer...

that may have helped with the warranty process, or give you a very good fighting chance if they denied...

--- i had a worse experience when my car was stock and my tranny was grinding from day one, but i was too excited to take it back for a 5th gear grind until 5k. only 3 months later...

they told me.... "JUDGING FROM YOUR TIRE WEAR YOU DRIVE AGGRESSIVELY, NO WARRANTY!"

i had 65% tire wear, they said that was abnormally fast lol i got 15k out of my stock tires, how many peopel got more than that lol not many.
Yea I know what you mean, It's worth a shot though, I tried to bring in my evo 8 because intermittently my front struts would squeak and the right front control arm would creak and make a popping sound, They gave me the run around BS so i was f*ck it I payed all the money for this car and it doesnt get fix the way it supposed to.

But I guess it's not only mitsu whose **** bout warranty, Alot of auto manufacturers are starting to become more **** with warranty claims.

Two things I would like to comment on:

Your mod's. Why did you leave the boost controler in? Of course mitsu will deny that claim. They, nor you, can prove with out a doubt of where the boost setting was at during time of failure. Im not saying that caused it by no means what so ever, I am just saying that I would tell customers the same thing about denying a engine claim with a controler on it.

And for the comment on Peteypab: If mitsubishi felt strongly enough, they could sepina the owners of this website to provide your IP address which is just like a street address. Then they can find you.

Does anyone have a clue what arbitration is? It sure isn't a trial, so there won't be any trial publicity (at this stage). Both parties are coming to the table with their arguments, with potentially an amicable settlement. I bet the arbitrator says the owner buys the motor and Mitsu installs it to factory spec as the compromise. That is what i see happening.

And for those that recommend "pulling off the mods" and taking it to the dealer. C'mon, are we always cheating the system? This would be ONE component of why new car prices escalate (warranty claims/work), similar to insurance rates, etc. Don't cheat, but i understand the argument that will come from this..."I had suspension on and they voided my TC claim." I can see some incentive to "return it to stock" in an effort to remove the "modified" stigma, but c'mon.

You got to pay to play, but i fully agree that the construct of voiding a warranty due to mods that have no bearing on the warranty claim is senseless.

Best of luck with your arbritration.
Them voiding it versus us voiding it for modifying the car are two different things.

I'm still amazed that people will try and push 50+whp out of a car and expect it to be warrantied.

We paid extra for that standard warranty -- it was built into the price of the car.
If Mitsubishi feels that they are entitled to void the warranty then would it not also be fair for them to refund the remaining value.

How about if Mitsu were to sell the Evo with a "no warranty" option for $3k less?

Just a thought -- I realize it is not realistic.

Very good point indeed, would also make for a compelling argument.

You paid for a warranty on a stock vehicle, not one putting out 25% more power, or with a re-maped ecu that's not done by one of their engineering teams. You paid for it, and in order to use it you have to abide by their rules.

I'm with you on having a shortened cheaper warranty, but that isn't likely to happen. Also I'd hate to see a car that they didn't have to concern themselves with fixing down the road.

Good luck. If it gives you any motivation, I had to fight an aftermarket warranty company because they wouldn't rebuild my blown T-56 in my LS1 camaro because I had headers on the car.

I won.

Just know your sh*t about cars and prove your point. The M&Moss act FTMFW.
