i had all kinds of problems with mitsu when i moved up to boca. when i use to take it to miami they never said anything about it. one day i dropped my car off at mitsu of del ray because of bad smoke being blown. then i find out that my turbo seals were blown and they wouldnt pay for the fix because of my mods. They even took pictures of my engine bay and shows the rep.

Sorry to hear about your engine Stew, hope it works out for you.

Off topic, I got an extended warranty (100k) at the dealership, is it possible to sell it back if I haven't used it?

An arbitration occured at the dealer I used to work for. All they had to prove was that the mods done were designed to raise power levels and it was all over, and he lost.

I got that same problem with my 05. Bearings are shot. The engine sounds horrible. Been outta comission for a while now. Only had 22,500 on the ticker, she still looks almost new. No offense but you should have attempted this without modifications to the vehicle. Regardless, good luck on your case.

No. It isnt a warranty you pay extra for. It is not like a Service Contract Company's warranty. Now back a few years ago, when you had the OPTION to purchase more, you could get a prorated refund. Not anymore now.

I would say the same, but just like most of us, a compitent technician can tell weither or not pieces of the engine have been removed. Simple things like mbc, tbe, and intake you can get away with, but removing cams and such is much harder to hide.
By the way, how is your claim going?

Okay, I got the impression he BOUGHT an extended service contract (or as people say warranty which is not a legal term in this case), and isn't talking about the 5yr/100K standard powertrain warranty from Mitsu. I didn't see what year his car was. At any rate if you BOUGHT an extended service contract, then yes you can get a partial refund based on the time left if you haven't used it.

Correct gptourer, IF he purchased an extended contract he could, but since he is going through arbitration with MMNA, I would assume that he didnt buy the extra.

To me time is money. I think I would have avoided Mitsu all together and simply fixed it myself. You could have found a motor from a totalled EVO for cheap and knocked it out on the weekend.

The reason Mitsu is soo **** about warranty work is people abuse the system. Everyone on this forum knows if you start tinkering with power mods you toss your engine and drivetrain warranty out the window.

I feel bad that this happened, it probably wasn't your fault, but you gambled on "bad things" not happening and they did. I would simply man up and fix the problem myself.

Short, sweet, and to the point. No b/sing there.

That was my first plan. But then RnR ran off with $10,000 of my money and left me with no parts, so I'm up a bit of a creek eh? No parts, $10,000 stolen, broken car.

I figured I might as well give the arbitration a shot, since it has worked out for people in the past.

If this is the case why not take RnR to court? Good luck with the arbitration. I would still like to know how they knew who you were on this forum? I am just curious. Its seems to me someone could go into a mitsu dealer with a stock car (never modified) and have a claim denied because Mitsu "thought" they were someone on evom with mods.

I would have really liked the warranty to be an option. And it would be nice if Mitsu did void your warranty for some odd reason, they could refund the remaining value of the warranty you are not able to use. You could then use the refund for the repair. I bet Mistsu has huge warranty costs as it is, but that does not mean they need to search out/make up reasons to void yours.
