I had lots of grinds, 1-2 & 4-5 that were COMPLETELY eliminated by redline lightweight shockproof.

Paying mine off....getting another car on top of the Evo. Then again.....if the Evo X is nice and has potential, you never know.

I will only get rid of it for a higher-end porsche if I come across a good deal.

Exactly how I feel. Maybe a GT3 or a Cayman, I would NEVER trade my Evo for an Sti, even though I really like the Sti.

If you want a quick car for track use, then stick with the Evo.
However, if you want a reliable car that'll hardly give you any troubles at all, and can hang with an evo, then by all means get the STi.

I love the way the STI looks and the sound of the engine, but I like the looks of the EVO more.

As far as the exhaust note of the EVO, it's not terrible, but I just love that boxer grumble.

However, after driving in each car, the EVO is simply more fun to drive and has a more confident feel on the road.

Most STI's do not make anywhere near 350whp or even 300whp with just a TBE and a flash. Yea, I've heard of a few STI's tuned at 23psi making 320 or so on the stock turbo.. that's probably not a "safe" tune, compare with a 25psi pump gas Evo. Also a friend's STI recently blew up with 1500miles, just a cobb map and an exhaust / intake although we think maybe the car was broken in poorly or had a defect to begin with. Upside is the dealer is probably going to warranty and THEY returned the vehicle to stock for him for the district mgr to inspect.

Also, I own both a 06 STI and a 06 MR. Both are fun cars, quality has to go to Subaru, performance to Mitsubishi. I suggest you go test drive the STI and see if it feels good, obviously your gonna take a pretty big hit to the wallet to swap but if it's what you need to do to be happy then go for it.

Also, I recommend like others that you remove some mods, try to get warranty service on what you have.

That would never happen with a mitsubishi. +1 for subaru customer service!

Still, you're going to regret the trade if you EVER get spanked on the street by an Evo. It'll be painful, and you'll inevitably say "I had one of those". My advice is just try to get your car back in shape. Get a beater so you can park the Evo for a while and ressurect it's performance.

I have thought about trading for an STi too, just because of the daily drivability. Bottom line: we all had the choice between the two when we bought our Evo's. I chose sides, and I'm stickin with my Evo.
