"Evo haters"
Honestly, I'm at the point where I really want as*holes in civics to come up next to me and try to race...or any car for that matter. I thought i'd be getting attention out the *** when I bought my Evo, but most people I talk to have no idea what it is. When they see it they ask me, "Is that a Subaru?" I just tell them yes, because i get so tired of having to explain "l-a-n-c-e-r e-v-o-l-u-t-i-o-n" to them and then have them barely be able to pronounce the word "Mitsubishi." People are so dumb. The boredom from driving around ignorant geriatrics and soccer moms in Pittsburgh all day makes me beg for the ricer that actually recognizes that I have a performance car and wants to race.
...I had people honking at me while passing them (at reasonable speeds), one driver (in a mini van) even went that far to open his window and give me the finger while passing him (and I was not tailgating him before that). Muscle car drivers give me thumbs down out of there windows, BMW drivers (mostly younger people in M3's) give me the finger head on in there windshield. What's going on? I am lost.
Then there are other things that are just funny like people revving their engines when they see me (even sports bikes) or trying to race at red lights. Well - this is all fun, but whats with the hate? Do you guys experience similar things on a daily basis? Do I have to be 18 to understand it and I am just getting too old? haha

...I remember when I bought my first Evo and had people revving me all the time. One particular idiot in a red Pontiac Grand Prix GTP would not leave me alone and was a constant annoyance and followed me for miles trying to get a race. It is wild how this car brings out the inner moron in some drivers.
The sad things, is that this really is one of the best all around performance cars you will find. Period. It is just too bad that the target demographic has given the car such a horrible reputation.
Well, in short, the car projects a negative image because of much of the negative behavior exhibited by many of the immature owners of this car that think they are the next star of Fast & The Furious by driving like complete tool bags, and racing everyone under the sun. The large wing on the back amplifies this even more because the large wing is one of the stereotypical things that the import car movement is known for, and hated for. People remember the big wing on the back of the Evo the 16 year old kid who just passed them on the shoulder racing against a turbo Civic had, and figure everyone with that type of car must drive equally recklessly. Remember that the Evo was the main character car in 2Fast 2 Furious, a movie that most import haters point to as the reason street racing and import cars are a menace to the open roads.

wich is very very wierd ... because the american history like the wing as JDM do... or even more, they some times even have canards too....

and even then, they out runned with JDM minivan....
So why you wondering why they hate JDM???

There are always going to be morons in the world, actually the world is mostly made up of morons. So what you have to do is be the better person and ignore them all because natural selection will take care of them eventually.
I don't really get much hate ... I've gotten a couple of fly by's (mainly from Subarus) and odd stares from Mustangs.
I did get a thumbs up once from 2 guys in a older Firebird ... that was interesting. They definitely knew what I was driving since they asked me to "get on it."
Here in Alabama, a lot of the car guys go to the local tracks so they've seen me and the other Evo guys owning most of the other street cars there. We show up and smoke 5.0's on spray, Z06s, etc, so I
I think the word gets around and people have developed some respect. If they don't know and give a stupid look or a thumbs down, I usually just hit the gas for a sec and shoot a couple of fireballs from the exhaust to get the point across ...
The egging and keying just sucks. I remember seeing a vid on YouTube where a stupid kid just runs up and kicks the crap out of the side of a yellow Evo in a parking lot. Why? I'll just agree that the world consists mostly of morons ... and spoiled kids with no respect for others and their property.

Maybe the same thing will happen with Americans and the Evo...
People that know cars, know evos, girls and rich guys dont know evos lol. Most muscle car owners who give thumbs down are jealous because they actually know what you have. I know plenty of girls who love my car more than my truck (2006 Dodge ram 2500 thunder road, lifted, beautiful rims). They love the speed part even more. Im in college and every guy on campus knows what it is pretty much when they see me roll by they all stare in awe lol.
First off, may be some one in your town have the same car and been pissing people off. My evo doesn't have the wing on, so no body car or look at my car. Also, I don't have the exhaust that scream "look at me" either.
In chicago same thing, people rev at you, trying to race you, no matter what they drive, or people that drives i.e.: bmw's benz just point fingers and laughing, I just ignore them all, i drive alot!! to work and back and obey all the rules. I respect every car!
btw, i love to wax.
btw, i love to wax.
Most all high horsepower muscle cars ignore me. Don't know why, but probably cause they know what they're dealing with. The car that wants to race the most..........the modded wrx's.
People honk at me for no reason as well. I get honked at the most when someone cuts me off in the left lane below the speed limit, and I preceed to blow by them in the right lane. I don't know why they get mad at me for this, when they're the ones that interrupted the flow of traffic.
