Warranty question...

I've heard that one dealership might void your warranty for mods while other dealerships don't mind so much. My biggest concern is that my ecu has been flashed and I want my stock oil temp sensor looked at cuz it's not working.

So if I take my car into one Mitsu dealership and they void my warranty for some mods done to my car, does that mean that my warranty is voided for any other dealership I go to? Is there a data base all the Mitsu dealerships go onto to see if your warranty has been voided?

If you have concerns about your warranty my advise to you is to return it to stock before taking it to the dealership. We all know how flighty Mitsubishi can be with warranties and our cars.

This is true, but if it was me I would want some peace of mind and go ahead and reflash my ECU back to stock. That is if you have a tactrix cable.

Good luck. Even if you reflash back to stock they still have the ability to see that the stock parameters were once changed. *IF* they see that the parameters have been changed, bye bye engine/drivetrain warranty, or get a lawyer to keep it. I have been told this by my best friend who is a mitsu service writer, as well as my brother who is a volvo service writer (not that anyone mods their volvo ecu's anyway).

I have yet to hear of a Mitsu voiding warranties for flashes...maybe they can't detect them or haven't looked yet.

If you're running OBVIOUS warranty voiding mods, just put the stock stuff back on. This includes MBC, test pipe, maybe downpipe. Catback and air filter should be fine.

I would remove all types of power adders. This is what the dealership will be looking for.

Just going off of what I was told, and thats been that they can plug in to your ecu and take a look if they like. Here in utah, they do it on nearly every visit for anything engine/drivetrain related. They can also see if the stock parameters have been changed. I cannot prove/disprove what I've been told. I can tell you only what I've been told by a mitsu service writer, who *HAS* personally seen mitsu void warranties for such a thing, as well he's seen their service techs look for mods to determine if its serviceable under warranty or no.

I am sure they would find out about the mods to your car... better be safe than sorry and remove mods before taking it

Thanks for the clarification. That sits a little uneasy with me.
