I have a CEL after installing 3" DP?!?

Ok, I got done with installing my 3" DP and Cat-delete lastnight. I took it for a drive with my wife around town and back. It seems fine. Today, I stop by the gas station and fill her up. It might be because I remove the gas cap before the engine is off but I did that before and nothing happens. I think it's because the DP is too close to the oil pan and tranny. When I get to work today, the CEL came on. I think the CEL is the "Service Engine Soon"??? Any ideas??

May be an obvious question but did you do something to alter the reading of the second O2 sensor now that the cat is gone?

Yes and the code is P0420 and he needs a O2 fix.

I bought my 2 at advance for like 5 bucks and drilled it out. There are numerous threads in the How-to secction.

I dont' think I did anything to alter the O2 reading except that I remove the Cat so maybe there's too much hot air going to the second O2 sensor.

vvhiteix, so that means I have to seal the second O2 sensor bung and make a new one at a farther down the pipe?

What they are saying is you need to get two anti-fouler, drill them out and screw that into the second O2 bung. You then screw the O2 into this. This makes the O2 reads less of the gas, and the light will go away. Search for "O2 fix". it is really easy

Like EvolvedGTI is saying, you can use the existing second O2 sensor bung, and install an anti-fouler plug that recesses the tip of the O2 sensor away from the exhaust stream. It usually looks something like this:

Your computer is sensing that you've removed the cat from your car. It doesn't matter where you bung it in, you don't have a cat. If you don't want to get the mechanical fix from PepBoys or Advance Auto, (which I couldn't because they didn't have any big enough) you can order them through Gruppe-S for like $13 shipped. Thats what I did.

I bought mine at NAPA, the part number was cross referenced. I followed the "how to" and it works.

Remember that this is a very primitive way to trick the car into thinking that the cat is still there. You may still throw a cel
