"Street Car" versus "Race Car" Debate...
Yes, but go to an inspection station with required legal equipment, and they will slap a sticker on a bike too.
The thread is "street car"... in all sactioned events, your "race car" MUST appear to comply with the rules to compete. Therefore the only bar for a "street car" is for it to be able to comply with the rules (laws) to be on the road.
Now ANYONE can argue that fact until they/we are blue in the face, but if it works the other way with "race cars", why would it not with "street cars".

BTW, any Vendors or their representatives try to use this discussion in other threads to start crap, expect the most possible points you can be hit with for EVERY single post.
Have a nice day

Either you can roll up to the first inspection station and get a sticker... or not.

Maybe we should not limit our classifications to "street" and "race" cars. I feel that there are cars that are in between. There are cars that are built for a racing purpose but are still able to be used for point A to B transportation. Obviously compromises are made when you build a car for racing.
The idea behind this post is to find out what other people feel is too much of a compromise to still be considered an A to B transportation vehicle. There is no right or wrong answer, just opinions.
Legal and not legal for street use is very easy to qualify.

There is one example. Just a little 9.3L twin turbo motor, but civil enough to cruize around town in on occasion. . .
A local shop here built a 1500HP N/A car to compete in a "Fastest Street Car" competition. Had to be registerred, plated, and complete a 50-100 mile drive without breaking, overheating, or stopping for gas. . .

as soon as not street legal , then becomes a race car.
Maybe a low class but still
street cars have they own place in the racing , called it mostly street class....
But no really place for the race car on the street...

like people said..race car is used for racing only....its hitched to a vehicle and towed to the track, has no plates, just racing numbers....and lots of stickers for advertisement.
if your car meets those qualities, than its race.
if your car has plates, registration, and its insured.....than you have yourself a street vehicle.
if your car has a parachute and a cage.......you got yourself a race machine.
if your car has airbags in the steering wheel and a car seat for your beloved youngin..you got yourself a street car that you race in.
if your car has a hute turbo or intake where your light fixtures once were....you got yourself a race car
if your car uses the stock airbox
..you have a street car that you race in.

I think that a street car is driven every day.
A race car is built for an spefic job i.e. drag racing, road racing, etc. and stink to drive in traffic.
But I also think that there are weekend cars, which are car that are built for fun but not always fun to drive.

Why does the comfort level have to do anything with how it is classed?
Street car - street legal
Race car - meets the race rules it attends and stays competitive (regardless of how it drives on the street)
I mean if you get some rusted up econobox from the 70's that still runs for $500, it has no A/C, manual everything and only has a radio, would you consider it a show car or a classic? Probably not.

It's very subjective. What one person sees as luxuries like air conditioning/heat, power steering, windshield wipers, etc. another may deem as necessities.
My other "street car" doesn't have any of the above. =P
