Mine is a street car, but it can be a race car depending on who pulls up next to me

it becomes a race car when daily drivability reduces

I posted on page three...but honestly this debate is pretty interesting. I posted in terms of owning an evo and comparing the street car vs. race car.....
BUT....
If were talking about any car it is pretty hard to determine.

I know a guy in lower CT with a built/supercharged 2004 Viper. The car looks stock and is only a little louder than stock....my car looks more modified IMO....
he is putting down something like 750wtq/and with a shot of nitrous I think he exceeds 1,000whp...but with all that power that car is a 100% street car for sure.

He can get through CT emmissions a hell of a lot easier than I can and I bet the law enforcement bother him less as well.

It's all in the eye of the beholder.

We're not talking about dysfunctional families or someone's girlfriends legs here. We're talking cars.

agreed using the same tires and fuel you use everyday...not changing the trim.

i don't care what your car runs on q16 on slicks at the track with all the seats interior out of it...

ok here's how that rule is considered here... lol...

if you can't drive your car to the race spot... and have to tow it... for w.e. reason... most of the time it being only able to run on slicks, or other reasons... then that is a race car...
if you have a 5 gallon fuel cell in your car and your car is tuned for c16... chances are you won't drive in the streets...
if you have plexy-glass windows and can't roll your window down... you might be a race car...
only because you are tagged and insured doesn't mean anything...

here's the simple solution... IF WHEN YOU GET PULLED OVER THEY WILL TAKE YOUR CAR for having improper glass... cut car... slicks... it's a RACE CAR...

but mind you you can change the race car into a street car... just get extra doors with regular glass... extra rims with normal tires...

lol... kinda that's the understanding here...

Race gas vs pump gas is irrelivant, and I don't know why everybody whines about making power on race gas. Listen, ladies, we don't have 400-odd cubic inch engines that can make 600hp day-in day-out on 93 octane. We have little baby 122 cubic inch mills, and if you want to make 500hp plus, you shouldnt cry about having to drive around on race gas. Too much money? Have to pay to play.

I can't understand why people would want to run their cars on **** anyhow...

By the same token I can't understand why people would want their street car to also be their race car. I can understand wanting a fast street car but, if you want to go racing build a race car. Compromising your race car for it to be a street car sucks and so does compromising your street car to go racing.

It's like all-season tires technically they while they can do all seasons they aren't the best in any one season.

I also feel you are nearing A race car when you have to sacrifice creature comforts such as AC, power steering, and heat to make your car faster. A street car should at least have power steering.

Some civics dont have power steering but they make a great economical daily driver...

to me, it comes down to how much a person is willing to sacrifice. I drove a big block 69 Dodge Charger with open headers everyday in HS. Would I do that now, hell no. I wouldn't drive any evo everyday now either. To me a daily driver is a comfortable, classy car with all the amenities which the evo 8-9's have none of. The X wouldn't be bad. So in short all evo's are race cars to me. They are the ultimate fun car, but not a street car.
