"Street Car" versus "Race Car" Debate...
for me very simple if you can pass LEGALLY the inspection sticker and give three people a ride, is a "street car" I don't care if it has 600hp. When you're the only one that can ride in the car , and you can see the pavement through the floor cause all weight reduction is a "race car".

I did not start the thread to try to determine what is or isn't a street / race car. I just wanted to see how others felt about this subject.
My street / drag race 240 has the AC, heat, PS, and stereo deleted. I have no air bags or factory safety belts but do have an NHRA certified 10 point cage and 5 point restraints. Some times I wish it still had power steering. Other times I wish I had the heater. Other than that, I love driving it on the street and have put thousands of miles on it the way it sits.....

OH.. BTW, it has a full interior too!!!!

Awww come on Mike, it's not a useless thread.

Like some said.. soon as you put a cage in it you have yourself a race car.. Its not real practical to grab your helmet everytime you go for a bite to eat in it..
I am curious where its been shown that a caged up car is less safe on the street than one without one.
How about for the passengers?? i mean if you have seats back there might as well sit in them, right??.. the rear bars will split someones head in a light collision..
Be realistic.. I highly doubt ill find US DOT data to support my opinion but id chalk this up as common sense.. also, as a former paramedic if you were involved in an impact that required cutting the roof off the car to get someone out it would be much more difficult to do thru chromoly then sheetmetal.. food for thought..
