When I bought the car 3 mons ago I told myself I'm going to keep it for a long time! Let say at least 10 yrs, I'll see whether the car will allow me to keep it forever and not die on me.

I'm keeping my EVO ix mr 06, got mines around end of 07 brand new out off the lot. only have 10K on it so far. been 1 1/2 ,, trying to keep the mileage low, it's going to be a collector item for me. keep it clean as possible. most of the time garaged. saving up to get the EVO X ,, maybe next year.
the old IX body still look awesome to me. and loving it every time i step into my garage. I hope next year.. when i step into my garage, I can choose which one to drive out.. the IX or the X, sweet!!! just thinkin about it.. ha ha ha,
I better get a bigger house with a bigger garage. Once i get my X i'll have to park the 08 BMW 335i out the door.. ha ha.

My IX is a keeper. It's gonna be one of those cars that your kids will be begging to drive when they first get their license and you'll be like, "YOU don't EVER touch my BABY!" and when your away for a weekend they find the keys and go Ferris Bueller on it and you make your child pay for the rest of their lives.

^ That's only a few miles from where I live. So I know to be extra careful when driving down that street, it's VERY easy to speed there... 3-4 wide lanes, typically open. Lots of exotics roll through there down to PCH.

I thought I was going to keep mine forever, but my feelings have changed. I've got the itch for new, and the X is calling me.
With the steep discounts and 0%, my payment will drop $50 a month as well as $50 a month for insurance. I'm planning on starting a family soon, and the X will be a good compromise between comfort and performance. It also has a better safety ratings. I considered trying to keep the IX, but insuring and registering 2 Evos will be expensive.

More Toys, More money

Yeah... I agree with you, the new X seems like a much more family car with the extra boost when needed. the IX is more ruff ride, once you tune and lower it. COST yeah, tell me about it. , I have the IX mr high insurance plus 08 bmw 335i, $$ cost. to pay and insure both cars.... and yes.. my GF want's the new X really bad. she is not happy with that nice black 2dr twin turbo 335i. she want's a fixed up track car....

bottom line, More TOYS,,, simple........ just make more money.......... WORK YOUR *** OFF.........

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE......... so go make yourself happy!

i agree with you on the last sentence in your post. i know i'll be keeping my car till the wheels fall off. i really enjoy it even though the maintenance costs are a pain in the butt. but you have to pay to play.
