Who's Gonna Keep Their EVO Forever?
Hopefully I'll never have to sell mine. The day I read VIIIs were going to be sold in the US, I knew I would own an evo at some point. I plan on keeping mine forever, especially after all the crap I went through to get it (bought one of the last brand new evo IXs in the country from Alaska, had it shipped to PA; I made two car payments before I even saw it...). Plus with all of the time that I've spent working on it and learning about it, and the mileage that it has, it wouldn't be worth selling. I've put 52k miles on it so far and never had a single problem. Now I just need to get another car for daily driving.
I might have to buy a salvage VIII and build a track car someday, because my IX is too special to me to cut up

I was planning on keeping mine, and seeing whether I ran into the ground first - that was until my IX was stolen after 4 years of blissful ownership. WHEN I get my next Evo, it's going to stay with me.

16. Save your pennies but yeah, it's a fun car!
I actually have been saving for 3 years
i have a little under $3000 and just 4 months ago i put it in a savings acc... lol hard keeping over $2000 in your room! haha but yeh a EVO has been something i wanted ever since the VIII ( ya lol i was YOUNG~ my step dad at the time had one )

The Evo will make it to the "classic" stage I think. Mine is an 03 and it has had a lot of work done to it. The only thing it could really use at this point is a new paint job. Once I get a garage and a new car I will strip it down to the frame and have it de-rusted and re painted.
Mine is a Keeper
This is my second EVO. My first was a brand new 2006 IX MR fresh from the dealer. People thought I was nuts to sell a clean 98 Supra TT 6 speed to get an EVO. I later had to sell the EVO 9 to pay bills.
My current is an 03 GSR WW no sunroof. I plan to keep it. Forever is a long time but I will try to keep it as long as possible. I have not found anything here under 100k that will touch this car with everything it can offer. With these tough economic times we need cars that can do everything. Ended selling my other toy a 93 MR2 turbo to focus my resources on this car. What other car has 4 doors, a trunk, unlimited power potential, a 4 cylinder for economy, AWD, lightweight (EVO X is a pig) and is just an overall badass car. Tarzan proves again that the EVO 8/9 CT9a is still king of Time Attack in Austrailia. Even the Skylines cannot touch it with a stick. I guess I represent a smaller minority of hard core guys who don't care about traction control, electronic nannies and BS electronics. This is one of the last pure drivers car. When I heard the EVO XI will be a hybrid my heart just sank. The days of doing cheap tuning/ injector and turbo swaps are over. Have you priced out a set of high pressure direct injection injectors? Welcome to the diesel world. my 2 cents. An instant classic.

++++++++
I got bored with all 14 cars that have come and gone in 6 years!! But honestly this one has stayed the longest. I've owned it for 4 years, yeah she was on her way out but I decided it to build the best example out there instead or just replacing it with something half as comparable....
After the kinds of sacrifices I have made and the kinds of things I have been through, unsuccessfully tried to sell it three times at insanely low prices, I have reached the conclusion that I am supposed to keep it as long as I possibly can. I think I already have passed the "possibly can" part a few times. With the mods I'm doing right now, there's no turning back. Even a pretty modified Evo can be one of the most versatile well rounded performance cars/DDs around. She's a keeper.

oh well... it will come sooner or later, im only 16
