Who's Gonna Keep Their EVO Forever?
That's true to an extent, but I'd say for IX owners (and even VIII owners), we're in a special group. While the X stepped it up in terms of hardware and resulting cornering and handling, it had a different feel that isn't the same as before. Personally I was ready to buy a X when they were released, but after test driving one, it just didn't seem as fun, so I was even happier with my existing IX, which has since been paid off.
Anyway, I don't get sick of what I drive, thankfully. I'm one of the few owners that averages pretty decent fuel economy since I drive it like a commuter car when going to work and back, though when I do open it up, I'm suddenly reminded of how fast it is, and I enjoy it since it's almost foreign to me since I usually won't go north of 3200 rpm on my way to work. And my car is still bone stock.

plan was to keep it for a long while, but work decided to change those plans. my next position is in southern cali so the current evo is out due to not even being remotely able to return it to a quasi-legal setup. I will probably be picking up an evo closer to stock once i make the move though.
See I think the people who keep them stock and drive them Like commuters will deft keep them alot longer. Less stuff breaking will make you not want to get rid of it. That's for sure.
yea but whats the point of having a sports car if your going to drive it like your grandma's dodge caravan?
Do you think everyone who owns a GT-R or M3 drives their car like they're trying to set a Nurburgring record?
The guy I got mine from put 120k miles on it bought it with 30k. He used it as his family car. I'm sure he drove it hard sometimes. but kept it stock changed the fluids and maintained it. Still has the stock clutch!!
I think the poster was referring to owners who drive their cars normally when just driving to work and back, as opposed to the Evo owner who beats on the car every second of every day. Obviously no Evo owner completely babies the car like it's a Prius, but some Evo owners treat it like a commuter car when commuting while opening it up when conditions permit. If you bought a used Evo, you'd be thanking the lord for Evo owners like that, otherwise you'd have a potential headache in your hands.

No i dont think everyone who owns a GTR or M3 (or evo for that matter)are constantly trying to use it to set some sort of record, but i do think that drivers of those types of cars will drive differently on a day to day basis that someone in an accord or camry. Maybe i'm a bit jaded though since i have a DD in addition to the evo.
