Who's Gonna Keep Their EVO Forever?
I didnt buy mine for looks, but since we are on the topic, I dont really like the EVO X looks at all. Looks too big and similar to a Mazda. That being said, I would still buy one since I know what it is capable of performance wise.
I'd like to keep mine for the rest of my life but am concerned about the power plant. At some point I think it would need to be converted to a turbo diesel at the very least to be feasible into the future. I have an 03 and am 28 and highly doubt I'll be driving it on gasoline if I am fortunate enough to live a long life and keep the car. I dunno, maybe ethanol would be a good alternative too but it isn't nearly as clean as biodiesel.
The Evo is a cult classic, plain and simple.
It ages well, and I'm going to keep it.
'03 VIII Tarmac Black Owner.
The only reason I would even consider letting it go is I'm out car space and only for an X that I can take to the track.
Personally I'm getting tired of seeing these cars in the hands of hacks, and douche punk teens. Other than that the community is great. =D

I have an viii shell that I will slowly build and keep until my 4 year old can drive. At that point I don't expect it to last that long. As for my IX, I imagine I will only keep it a couple years longer until my gf passes the bar and we can afford nicer cars.

Wasn't comparing them in any way, shape, or form. It's a different kind of nice feeling to sink into the seat of a semi-luxurious car and not feel every bump in the road, or hear the brakes at every light, or have the dash rattle, etc. If I would buy one it would be to just drive, never race.

German engineering is overrated. I sold my 2007 GTI and bought my 05 Evo. I can tell you the horror stories about the only car I have ever bought new and how I spend more time driving a damn loaner hyundai sonata more then my GTI...there are a plethora of **** poor design choices by those german engineers.
VW has electricial issues, i dont like vw's. we have a bmw 330xi and its really nice tho. they sure do lots of weird **** tho.. like the bmw's have no dipstick and other dumb stuff.
