How many of you are tired of seeing/hearing about beaten on Evo's?
You can look at it that way, but then dont beat the hell out of them to where they start breaking down and come on here and ask stupid questions like is it bad when my oil is low and make statements like "i just wanted to hear the whooosh"
It really bothers me to see people driving evo's just for the image, to have an "evo".. They don't drive them right, use them right, want to put in huge *** speakers/sound systems etc...
Breaks my heart.. damn fast and furious

whats the point then?
i like how people seem to think theres an unwritten law about what mods are acceptable and unacceptable for evos.
i like how people will see an evo with mods that they dont approve of cause they are "ricer" and they act like its a personal attack directly to them cause they drive the same type of car
its just a car, anybody with credit, money, or parents can get one. its not like we are driving super expensive/ rare cars

As for the mods end, would you in all honesty want to spend your hard earned money on certain parts that you know are inferior and use them on your Evo? My guess is probably not. A person's choice for IC pipes is their own choice, as long as it does the job it's supposed to. A person's choice for a FMIC however could be debated, or for instance the choice of the older ebay knock-off HKS intake kit with a vented to atmosphere BOV on a maf-based ecu system. That to me says the person wanted the look and the sound of a "race car" without a single thought as to what the consequences might be.
No, they may not be rare cars, but then again how many times do you drive past a Honda covered in gaudy stickers and half painted body kits and think "ricer"? The same applies here.
this is all sad, but u can look at it this way - with every Evo that's wrecked or taken apart and turned into a christmas tree (u know, shiny objects, and pointless lights hanging from every possible orifice), the rest of our Evos go up in value.
there were only so many made, right ? 2000 or 5000, whatever the production numbers were, with every year, we are that much closer to taking our babies to "Barret-Jackson", and striking it rich

I come from an odd automotive history where form follows function. Basically if it doesn't function, it doesn't belong. But I realize that personal tastes and the daily driven world over ride much of that, and that's fine. If an individual wants to add something extra to the look or style of the car, that's fine. But when I see things taken above and beyond good taste, that's when I pull the "ricer" flag as you call it.

bottom line is who cares what other people are doing with the cares they purchase.
i guess if it bothers you that much, go buy them kids all the parts that tickle your fancy...cause thats why they bought the cars, to please you
i understand what your saying tho, i put nothing on my car unless im getting benefit in performance from it. but not everyone thinks the same way

I see ya where ya coming from. I have 90,000 miles on my Evo. It's a daily driver and I have to take care of it. Every now and then- I stomp on it. Sometimes I just want to go fast. lol. None the less, it's my responsibility to take care of it.
I agree and disagree with the OP.
Yes there is younger group now being able to afford an evo for lower prices since they have no been out for a while, but there is also a group of people that buy a car to use it for what it was made for...
Many would think if they saw my car that I beat on it and don't care for it, but thats the opposite of the truth.
My exterior looks like crap. Paint is dull, scratched and has dents (bought it like that 3 years ago), and I drive it quite hard, especially at the track, BUT I do take care of the car and always make sure everything is in perfect running order.

On the topic, honestly I think it's none of my business what someone else does with their car. If they can buy it, then they can put spinners and windshield washer LEDs on it for all I care. I just pass them on the road and shake my head, and go meet up with my serious friends with their serious cars. No point judging people, as some have said, if they can afford it then more power to them. Maybe when they get older they'll be restoring the EVO they abused so bad in their diaper drifter years...
lol, there is a guy (prolly young 20's) that has a evo near me. And he pisses me off really bad. Instead of getting a full tbe he gets just a muffler just like MOST, not all, civics and integras. But before his purchase of the gay muffler he takes off the stock one for the sound.
I asked him why he did that, thinking maybe it fell off or something but he just said it sounds better. I didnt say another word and just drove off. He always waves at me and i do nothing back. That really grinds my gears
