How many of you are tired of seeing/hearing about beaten on Evo's?

I'm personally getting sick of this...it always seems to be the same situation where ever I look. Young kids buying up used Evo's and then proceeding to destroy/maim/beat on and generally give no care or attention to the car other than when they break something. I realize this is a car that loves a good flogging now and then, but something can be said for taking care of a machine to keep it in top form, flogged on or not. All too often I see engine bays that look like it should be from the local "Honduh Boi" down the street, and way too many threads with questions that have been covered thousands of times. And of course the few threads here and there that are above and beyond the call of stupidity. This is a machine for the enthusiast, and it really grates on my nerves lately to see these machines in the hands of new drivers or uneducated drivers. I really think this car had such a high price tag for a reason, in the fact that it really wasn't aimed at the typical young "tooner boi" crowd. If you're a kid under 20 and drive an Evo and have the knowledge, background, and afford and actually do keep your Evo in the best shape you can, then more power to you.

To those that can't and don't have the knowledge required, please...learn as much as possible before another Evo gets ruined. If you don't want to put the time and effort in, then you'll get no respect from me or your fellow Evo owners.

Sorry if this thread offends some, but it's something that's been grating on my nerves that I had to get off my chest.

I'm only 19 and I have an Evo. People make fun of me for babying the car and not beating on it and cleaning it once a week lol. I make the payments and pay for all the mods and install them myself. The only thing my parents helped me with was simply co signing the loan so I could get a lower interest rate. Ive seen a few beat Evo's around where I live but not many. I wanted the Evo for such a long time and when I finally found the right one, I bought it and I'm taking care of it because I plan on keeping it for a while and I also worked my *** off and saved all my money for about a year so I could be able to afford one.

if they have the money. let them get whatever car they want.

when they blow the car up, thats 1 less evo i have to see on the street, so our cars just keep getting rarer to see

seems to me these day as kids grow up watch videos they seem they can do all the cool drifting and beating on cars it stupid for people to do that. but its there car they can do wat they want! ive own a evo sence i was 15 and im 19 now till day i baby my car for the most part but then get on it to have fun. or bring it to the track to run it. but i know my limits and wats beating on the car and wats not beating on it. thats wat my winter beater is for haha but i also work my *** off for what i got and appreciate it so thats probably another reason why i dont beat on it.

That's true but I hate seeing a car such as an Evo or an STi in the wrong hands and then get destroyed by some kid trying to do something he saw in a F&F movie.

Now that I can respect. To be that age and bust your hump to afford to keep your Evo in pristine shape shows initiative.

There's one Evo in particular around where I live that the kid bought it for dirt cheap from a private seller (like 13K cheap) and proceeded to put every junky ebay part on he could with a Ings+1 fiberglass knockoff body kit. He constantly beats the crap out of the car, thinks because he has a "stage 2" clutch he can drop it whenever and where ever he wants, and likes to play "fast and furious" with WRX's because he thinks he's faster than everyone on the street (when I mention anything about taking me on at a track he stutters and makes excuses lol). He also painted the interior of the car to match the BBY outside (not quite a color match and they're dirty and grimy) and half of the gauges and interior pieces are broken. This person should NOT own an Evo.

hahah more venting jim? I too get the pleasure of watching kids like that ruin their cars every day. Only a matter of time before they kill the car or themselves, god forbid of course. I wanted an evo but I got a DSM because the price, Im far from rich but maybe one day I will be able to buy one, until then I will work on and be happy with my dsm.

I agree, it's sad to see Evo's which are not taken care of. I also think its equally sad to hear about Evo's which are always babied and not driven the way they were meant to be driven.

whats the point then?
i like how people seem to think theres an unwritten law about what mods are acceptable and unacceptable for evos.

i like how people will see an evo with mods that they dont approve of cause they are "ricer" and they act like its a personal attack directly to them cause they drive the same type of car

its just a car, anybody with credit, money, or parents can get one. its not like we are driving super expensive/ rare cars
